I don't know when Casinos are going to learn. When they start cutting perks and good promotions that their customers like, they will stop coming in or come in less often, and spend less money. I guarentee this was a move by some micromanaging middle management bean counter that can't think outside the box, and will be blindsided and stunned when business drops off. Once customers go away it's hard to get them back, which is common sense which is so rarely used in business these days.
There is a minicasino (only table games and poker) near me that used to have very solid live poker play, and a couple of really good tournaments, one at noon, one at midnight with good live play between. They started cutting back the Monte Carlo boards (quad, SF, royal flush bonuses) and in to you win coupons for table game play. They took away those promos and I told the guy running the room that this is the beginning of the end for this poker room. He scoffed and said "no way", a year later after struggling it's gone.
This casino also took away another popular pai-gow promo and they wonder why business dropped off.
It's too bad because they have some great dealers who also cannot understand the bone headed decisions that effect their income as well.
