In a similar vein, I was once on a Jet Blue flight to West palm when the Captain was introducing himself and the crew over the PA. He then noted this particular flight was his favorite route. He called it the miracle route. So many people needed wheel chairs and special assistance to board the plane but at least half of them got off in West Palm on their own.

I think that I will just stick with the Early Bird Option. For Las Vegas, I always purchase the $10 Early Bird for the flight home. On my departure flight to LV, sometimes I buy it and sometimes I don't. It usually depends upon if I will be at a computer exactly at the 24 hour mark. So I spend either $10 or $20 on each trip.
SWA is getting out of line in my opinion. They were pretty sharp using commodity options years ago to save people money when the fuel prices went out of sight. But earlier this past year, they didn't pass the savings along and they raised their rates like everyone else. I'm sure they were still hedging against a rise in fuel prices but just didn't want to pass the savings on to us.
With technology what it is today, it is easy enough to assure your choice of an aisle or window seat with no additional charge. I typically set an alarm for my IPhone 24 hours in advance and have the choose seat tabbed. Then I print the boarding pass, like A-51 when I get to airport.
