Southwest Airline Tickets!

ZOMG!!!!!!!!!!! I just went to look at tickets to go to Vegas and it was 890.00 ! for 2 R/T!
By time I figure bags and stuff on other airlines it is close to or more. I was going to use my points, but still would owe some.
I have been searching for reasonable fares and so far looks like a Las Vegas trip this year may be out. BTW Southwest has been showing some of the higher fares from my airport of late, not the low fare carrier they once were.
You really have to catch them at just the right time....I managed to get our trip for $525 for 2 RT from Pittsburgh back in January. Any other time I've looked at it the rates were $800 for 2 tickets. I just happened to check on a random sunday afternoon...

We fly out of Norfolk and for the past couple of months, the fares were running around $250 each way. I kept checking because paying around $1000 for the both of us was out of the question. On March 1st at around 6:00 in the morning, the fares had dropped to $120 each way so I booked immediately. They stayed low for a couple of days but are right back up now. As stated above, just keep checking. Fares don't seem to have any rhyme or reason anymore.

Jet fuel is up over 120% since 1/20/09-enjoy that hope and change as the dollar continues to cheapen.
UGH and coming out of the midwest , the airport never gets a break going to say Vegas. IF I wanted to go to Oklahoma I could get a flight for a 79 special. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just HOPE this CHANGES by the end of the year. Man been planning the B dayas cheaply as I can.
Make a point of checking rates at odd hours of the day. I have scored some of my best rates by booking online directly with the airline between 1 and 4 am, when those exact same flights had been much more expensive during the "prime time" booking hours like midday or early evenings. Airlines can, and often do, adjust their rates numerous times a day. With a bit of effort you may be able to work that out to your advantage! Just keep checking and be ready to jump when you see a price you can live with. Good Luck on getting a great deal!
Airlines generally post their new discounted seats on Tuesdays. The best time to find the cheapest fares is between Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday mornings. Be quick, the cheapest ones sell out very quickly and there usually aren't many released at a time.
Did anyone else get the SW credit card little while back when that thread was going? Just curious. We have the points and haven't used them yet and don't really want to waste flying to fla. when we can drive there. Unfortunately theres no way in hell i can talk M into vegas again, she wants to go somewhere new and i can't blame her, time for somewhere new out west this time.
Good luck in yor alls' search for a respectable fare, Idon't blame you guys,no way would I pay a grand to fly either.

Sure did get the card. SW sent my wife an offer of 50,000 points after the 1st charge on the card. Used those points to receive three tickets valued at $309 each for points and $10 each. People who thgink these cards are a gimmick have a screww loose. In 2011 my family flew 13 round trip flights and I only paid for 2 of those tickets. (Not to mention 5 were 1st class). All others using point earned from using credit card rewards programs.

These rewards programs are the best. the card issuer does not care that you may have had their card in the past, they just reissue one and you get the bonus again. In fact before reading this thread I just cashed in points for $500 in resturant gift cards.

Get the SW card only if they are offering 25,000 points or more. Make sure you pay the FULL balance charged every month.
