southwest fee for early boarding passes?

You can also go with Plan B. ONE of you pays for the guarantted A, gets on, and saves a seat for the other person. Wea lways check in on time, and one of us usually is a 50-60 A boarding anyway.

We always travel mid-week and the plane has always been full, regardless of time.

We always fly SW to/from Vegas and we've never gone for the early check-in. At our hotel, we can check-in and get our boarding passes shortly after the 24-hour begins and have always been in the A group. Actually, even being in the B group doesn't bother me, but then we have a short flight (about an hour). If it was a longer flight, we might re-think the fee for the early check-in.

Oh, allright...maybe that's a little exaggerated. "Pure Hell" would be spending four hours on a flight sitting next to someone preach about:
- leaches sucking off the government
- nut jobs from Hollywood
- how much better everything was in 1955
- white people are the best

DrMilled's row mates on Southwest know exactly what I'm talking about.
Two weeks ago we had a Monday morning flight out of Vegas, forgot to check in until Sunday afternoon and still got middle B group.

Of course, it depends on where you are flying from/to. Flights to and from Texas are almost always full (maybe 1 or 2 seats left). It also depends on the time of day of the flight.

We always spring the extra for the early bird - I don't want to have to remember to check in exactly 24 hours ahead of time. We just returned on Sept 21, and even with the early bird - purchased at the same time as the tickets (early June) - we still were in the b20s. Worth the extra money to me on a 4 1/2 to 5 hour flight.
I have flown SW more times than I can count. I have never bought the early bird seating priority and always had my choice of an aisle or window.

Easy with a smart phone. Set alarm to go off minutes before 24-hour advanced period. In Vegas in particular, I have obtained my pass number while walking Vegas Boulevard. Get to the airport next day and print out my pass.
Since we havn't paid for a flight on SWA in the last 5 years (thankyou Visa), I always buy the EB. Never have to worry about getting online and the passes are waiting for us at the airport. Only one of our trips to Vegas this year (total of 6) ended up with numbers higher than 30 (35 & 36) and all of the trips were on full planes (usually leave Wed and rtn Mon) and direct flights.
I fly Alaska Airlines and my seat is reserved. Even with the baggage fee the last few times I've gone to Vegas Alaska's flights were cheaper.
I go to Vegas with my friend that is handicapped. We always get to board first and get to sit up front. I don't tell him that's the only reason I put up with him for all these years.
