Soylent Green

After yesterday’s discussion with DD I decided to watch Soylent Green on my Kindle. I always find it interesting to see how we imagined the future in the past. After that I caught the Omega Man which also starred Charlton Heston. I’d never seen that one before, and since I had seen I am Legend with Will Smith it was nice to see the original. Just thought I’d share.
I haven't seen that movie since high school in a sci-fi class. All i remeber about the movie is what soylent green is made of,other than that i don't remember much else from it. Perhaps i will make it a point to watch next time its on the tube.

MMMMMMMMMMMM,protein squares

My understanding is that there is a remake in the works. It is available free if you’re an Amazon Prime member and it is still probably on Netflix’s streaming service.
Thanks, i would definitely want to see a remake of it,sounds pretty cool.

Technically DonDiego suspects that malibber has, in fact, not yet seen the original. That would be The Last Man on Earth (1964) based on the 1954 novel, I Am Legend, by Richard Matheson and starring Vincent Price. DonDiego saw this one when he was in high school at the now-long-closed Sauconia Theater in his boyhood hometown.

Oh, and there is apparently a 4th version released straight to DVD in 2007 one month before I Am Legend, I Am Omega (2007) starring Mark Dascasvcos. DonDiego has not seen it, and does not expect to.
I'll have to check that one out.
I loved the special effects and costumes in Soylent Green. The police wore spray-painted NFL football helmets. And the crowd control machines were spray painted garbage trucks that scooped people up and dumped into the back. Watch the movie and people literally jumping into the garbage scooper =)

Things got a litte crazy at Occupy Oakland....

The original Omega Man (IMHO) was better than I am Legend. I thought Soylent Green was great...........Edward G. Robinson's last film.
Great flick. Now I'm hungry for a green wafer covered with strawberry jam
