Spirit Airlines

Has anyone flown Spirit Airlines? And how was your experience?
They charge all kinds of fees beyond the price of the ticket!
I flew Spirit once- Chicago to Vegas and back again.
It is a true budget airline and you can expect all sorts of add on fees for luggage, drinks, etc. I ended up joining the Spirit Club or whatever they call it in order to get the reduced fee on our carry on luggage. As a result, I get continual emails about discount fares and promotions. I have not been able to take advantage of any of them mostly because the closest Spirit location for us is in Chicago which involves a drive from Iowa.
I ended up in a far back row where I am convinced I was in the smallest seating area I have ever been in.
All that said, they were on time and hey- I was going to Vegas, so I can put up with a lot.

If you fly them to vegas and take your boarding pass to the D they will give you 50 in free play.
As the others said they nickel and dime you to death.

it's been a few years since we flew Spirit and we laughingly called it the "walmart of airlines" but more recently some family members had some bad experiences with Spirit vowing to never fly them again due to the add-on costs and flights being cancelled and departure times being moved around.
Worst leg room ever.
Flew Detroit to Las Vegas once......will never fly Spirit again.
I would rather walk.

Spirit Airline Reviews

If accurate departure & arrival times are important to you, keep in mind they do hold one of the worst on-time records in the airline industry.

I think pretty much all the airlines nickel and dime you to death now.
