Spoofed Emails From Me

Someone that I've never emailed just emailed me and asked me to stop emailing them. I can only assume this is someone spoofing my email address. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know by posting it here...thanks.

It's been happening a lot lately. Someone hacked into your email account. You need to call your email provider and change your password.
I hope you didn't reply to that e-mail, Frank.
Without any details its hard to know for sure, but my guess is that it might be spammers. Some have software that use names from their lists on a rotating basis. They use one email as the sender for a couple dozen emails and then switch to another email address from the list so spam detection programs don't pick up on the same name being used over and over.

You didn't say which address it was, but I did find some examples of what I think is your main email address that you give out that were not munged on a web site, so odds are pretty good spammer spiders have picked it up already.

I must have had some "trojan" get into my email account and steal my address book. I keep on getting emails from people I know, but when I open them up there is a URL that takes you to either a Canadian pharmacy or some type of "work at home" gimic. People have sent me back emails that show they came from me but I didn't send them. They say things like, "Look at this site I found and I'm now making $300 extra a week." So far, I'm glad they just are harmless ads. I'd just like to know how they got ahold of my address book. A computer whiz who got one of these emails from "me", told me to change my password, and it seems to have worked to some degree. But everyday, I seem to get at least one from someone I know. There usually isn't anything written in the subject space.

Which email address I have three?

Is it the:

1. yahoo
2. gmail
3. progressivevp

I've left off the other parts of the addresses intentionally, please follow suit.

Oh and sorry if any of you have been inconvenienced by this. I knew nothing about it until yesterday.
my brother in law lost all his email addresses through yahoo. it started with everybody getting an email from him saying he was stuck in london and needed money. i noticed the email was very simlar to his except for one letter.

You noticed what email was very similar except for one letter?

You got one from me?

And if so from which of my emails? (please leave off the parts before the "@" symbol.)
I had that happen with my yahoo account, about 2 weeks ago. I changed my password and so far it hasn't happened again.

I know many folks on Facebook get hacked not sure how they do it or why. Good luck
"Someone that I've never emailed just emailed me"

Obviously, the account that was hacked is the one this person addressed his email to.

It happened to me last year. Also my daughter. In both cases, we simply changed our passwords.
