Sportsbook Question

I think that using your phone or any other device in the book area has changed. From what I understand, cell phones and similar devices are legal to use in the sports book area.
LVH - Heads and shoulders above the rest. Very fast drinks service and food outlets right there - and the most and largest screens in Vegas. Seats are also comfortable.
You're not allowed to use your cell phone in the betting area. Not even suppose to use it in the sportsbook. If you're on it while near the betting window you will be told to put it away. It was that way when I was there in January at several sportbooks.
THanks for the update on Cell phones, have seen many of people yacking away on their phones just walking around when security comes over and slams the hammer on them.... most had no idea what was happening or that they had even wondered into the SB area.

I specifically remember the LVA shorts on this site that said the Nevada Gaming Commission was no longer going to enforce the cell phone rule at sports books.

Think about it. If someone wanted to run bets, they only need to step a foot outside the book, get their bets over the phone, and then run back in. The law was futile. I do believe they said that if the sportsbook does suspect a messenger is booking bets then they can ask him or her to not use their phone.
No cell phones at the betting windows. That is the only rule. RM is correct.
Thanks for the update on Cell phones, you can tell how often I bet the ponies. Guess the policy went the way of no phones at the table games several years ago.
I have the Cantor app on my droid phone and can make bets during the games through my account. Only works in the state of Nevada.

I have the same app on my tablet. I love the mobility of it. If you stayed out late Friday or Saturday night, you used to have to worry about getting up early enough to get cleaned up and get down to the sports book to make your bets. Now you can do it from your room.

This was about 5 years ago.

I'm sitting at a bar just outside the sports book at Bellagio, and the bartender said I couldn't use the cell phone because I was "too close" to the book. He actually showed me the tile line on the floor I had to stand behind, it was about 10 feet from where I was sitting. I laughed, so did the bartender, an invisible barrier, one side is safe the other side is trouble.
