Star Wars

Surprisingly here in Naples it wasn't sold out. They ticket seller said they weren't even that busy . Seeing it tonight.
Saw it yesterday at 9 am. 3-D showing. Very good. I got a kick out of Han Solo(Harrison Ford), one scene "we've got to hurry!". As much as a 73 year old can.
I wont spoil the plot...I just have one question for the special effects team. If you can make it look like a whole planet blows up, then why cant you make it look like Carrie Fisher's lips move when she speaks?
Since you guys are geeking out, I just saw this and thought it interesting. I knew some old toys were valuable, but ..DAMN..30K for a luke with telescoping saber!? That's some serious coin for an action figure. Anyway, here's the story of the first SW Christmas, toywise.

The First, Worst 'Star Wars' Christmas: A Look Back at the 'Brilliant,' Toy-less 1977 Holiday Season

"Maybe you’ve heard the story of the first Star Wars Christmas, and maybe you haven’t. Maybe you know about the mail-in certificates, and maybe you don’t. Either way, the story is worth telling and retelling because for all that the future holds for the Disney era of George Lucas’s creations, the first Star Wars Christmas is the only Star Wars Christmas that will ever be defined by one “brilliant” idea — and zero action figures..."

“It was impossible to get the toys in market in time for Christmas,” Steiner says, “and, yes, we could get some stuff like puzzles and games, but we couldn’t get the essence of the toys.”

The essence or star of the Star Wars line is the 3.75-inch action figure cast in the detailed likenesses of the film’s characters — and, as Steiner says, it’s not ready to ship.

So, Kenner’s Loomis goes for it again.

“These action figures are not yet available,” a 1977 Kenner TV commercial advises, “but the Star Wars Early Bird Certificate Package is in stores..."

I went to see the first Stars Wars movie in the theaters 14 times, then bought it on CED disk and watched it quite a few more times. I have all 6 of the "first" movies on DVD. Obviously I will see number 7....maybe in a theater because I'm sure that the big screen experience would be more enjoyable than seeing it on my portable DVD player.
Over the years I bought my son the the Falcon, a Death Star and a few other sets as well as lots of figures. I had fun playing with them.
One good thing about the new movie is there is no Jar Jar Binks!
One question. Was there anything going on during the closing credits??? My friends ran out of the joint like the place was on fire. Just a simple yes or no will do. Thanks.

Ray
I saw the movie and thought is was okay, but far from great.
