Stations Take Proactive Approach

Unlike Sheldon Adelson, who is cutting off the majority of his customers, the Stations have chosen to kick-start their economic recovery with promotions and more. It all starts today -- https://www.lvrj.com/business/station-launches-campaign-with-super-bowl-ads-115414364.html

Over the next 22 days, we're giving away 220 cars and 880 $500 prizes. The plan is to go back to the "old" ways of offering value, value, value. More full-pay VP and looser slots. Better dining values. More entertainment at lower prices. Grand Cafes instead of Coco's (per customer requests). And big promotions every month.

New jobs have been created as people have been hired to be sure the guests receive the best possible customer service (a term Adelson is apparently unfamiliar with).

Good for station casinos! For the past 20 years I have been a loyal Harrah's customer and a 7 star member. However, I am tired of the bad V/P pay tables and the tight slot machines at Harrahs. I like the Red Rock casino and plan on staying there for my next visit.

Thanks for the info Sue!

Way to go stations!

Now if they could do something about that resort fee . . . you've got me!!!
That is very good news, Sue.
I hope the stations of old are going to come back. They used to be the best.

You can say that again. I find rooms on line for $20 a night then get socked $15 a night resort fee???? I'll stay at Harrah's and play at Stations.

You're comparing apples to oranges. V/P and Stations rarely market to the same type of casino patron. Last time I checked Adelson was worth about $15B and Stations recently emerged from bankruptcy. If Fertittas didn't have the income from Zuffa(UFC) and didn't have powerful connections in maybe the most crooked city in America they probably wouldn't have been able to keep any of the Stations casinos. I doubt they'll do all that well this time around either. I'm just happy they took that lying doofus loser Brian Greenspun down with them last time.

I think it's a big mistake to yank an offer a few days in advance, but I trust the $15B guy knows his business well enough to know who to offer and who to not. They should have honored the comped stay and then cut future offers. It's a business decision plain and simple. People need to not take these things so personal and learn to move on quicker. This recent story proves it's not all about the bottom line with LVS though.

This all paled in comparison to the figurative red carpet rolled out by the Venetian, however.

The Venice-inspired resort picked the Marcales up in a limo, and a staff of directors greeted the family once they arrived—armed with roses for the women, of course. The group gave her free slot play at one of her favorite slot machines, and then they introduced Gloria to the president of the company, Robert Goldstein, the man whose office originally received and acted on the request. It was a meeting the family will never forget.

“I think that was the most amazing part,” says Christina. “The fact that someone of this magnitude in the company would meet us ... Wow. He didn’t just say ‘hi’ and ‘bye’ either. He was human, and he said some heartwarming things to me and my mother.”

The Marcales were also treated to a nice dinner, tickets to Phantom and a backstage tour of the production, where they got to meet some of the cast members. “My mom was overwhelmed,” says Christina. “I was, too. We kept thinking, wow, this is what the celebrities do.”

Thanks for the info, Sue. I can attest to some of these changes already. We stayed at Aliante this weekend and had a great time. Friendly valet, front desk, waiters, fun dealers, even the slot club and cashier desks were nice. We used to frequent GVR for those nice rooms, but got tired of the surly front desk and gloomy dealers. We swtched over to M and are pretty happy there, but we gave Aliante a try for Super bowl. Rooms are very nice but small. Hotel area is beautiful. And I was tickled pink with the three banks of 100% payback Deuces Wild. I managed to catch two hands of Four Deuces and one Royal (not progressive). Although busy, the place never seemed crowded. The Pancake House and Buffet had good food and we didn't have to pay a dime all weekend for food or rooms. It is a bit far out there, but if you have a rental car, it is no big deal. We'll be back soon, I'm sure.
