Steelers meeting with QB Michael Vick

"PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are meeting with free agent quarterback Michael Vick on Tuesday with an eye toward giving the former Pro Bowler a look as a backup behind Ben Roethlisberger.

The Steelers are in serious need of depth with second-stringer Bruce Gradkowski dealing with an injured finger on his left hand and No. 3 Landry Jones still getting up to speed in his third season..."

Wow, talk about out of left field. Steelers don't usually associate with anyone that's been in a lot of trouble before, well "big" trouble anyway. I'm not sure what to think about it, doesn't seem like a good fit, but then again I'm not an NFL coach or GM.
I've always liked Vick and thought he got way more than he deserved with the whole dog thing, and I'm a dog lover.

On a side note concerning dogs, has anyone else seen all the pet abuse commercials that have been running lately, or is that just in my area? GEEZ LOUISE, I'd rather see sally struthers with the starving kids in Africa than see more of these ads, how can people be that cruel? I've started changing the channel, it's tough to watch.
You nailed it, John. Emotion runs higher, and louder, for animal suffering than for human suffering.

Look how quickly folks got over that player punching his wife unconscious (hasn't he been re-instated already?), than when Vick was outted for dog-fighting. Who really mourned at the heart for the wife's suffering? Nobody (especially when she back-peddled to save his ass).

Hard to watch the knockout, but no emotional connection with her.
Everybody cried when Old Yeller was put down, and that was a movie.

Animals...we love 'em all. Humans, some but not all.
Those starving kids, they don't have the ticking time bomb like the animals in a shelter do.
Hard to think about.

Just sayin'...

Announcer 1: "Look at that, folks. I can't believe it. At the last second, he threw that puppy seventy yards, a perfect spiral. That's an amazing throw!"
Announcer 2: "And the receiver couldn't hang on. Oh, what a heartbreaker, folks!"

How many girls did Big Ben rape?

Why they get rid of Batch? He generally did a good job as a backup.

I'm sure Vick will do fine.

Charlie Batch? He hasn't played in the NFL since 2012.

Mr Batch will be 41-years-old in December.

He is presently employed as KDKA-TV's color commentator for preseason games, and the main studio analyst for the Steelers pre-game coverage prior to the national airing of The NFL Today during the season.
Matt Barkley was looking at that job opening.

Zero. He was accused of two.

Mr. Vick has signed the contract. He is now the Pittsburgh Steelers back-up quarterback earning the veteran-minimum-salary.
