Sticking to Itinerary?

I leave Thursday for my annual solo trip to Sin City. I’ll be staying 3 nights at the Golden Gate, my first time away from The Plaza in years.
My very first trip downtown about 10 years ago I stayed at the Gate and I think that’s when I fell in love with the Fremont/Downtown scene. I’m stoked to hit the GG again and to check out the new rooms.

Every year I make a pre-trip itinerary of where to go and what to do, I like reading it when I get back to see what I actually got to on the list..

So, my plans this year:
- Pull an all nighter (my 1 a year.. getting older sucks)
- Check out The Western for the $1 drinks
- Late night Roulette at El Co
- Vanguard Lounge (thanks Groupon!)
- Sams Town and try to get to the Strip for free via the shuttles
- Oogle the GG dancing girls
- MRB coupon run to Terribles and Ellis Island
- Country Superstars Tribute Show at GN - Friday
- Ron White at Mirage - Saturday
- Creep around the Plaza to see if I can get a sneak peek
- Try to enjoy LVC, even thou its going downhill
- Check out Gold Spike Pool
- Check out Binions Pool (thanks Billryan)
- MMMMMM Shrimp Cocktail
- Pour one out for the Sahara
- Figure out where to use 50% off coupon at Palms (most likely dinner)
- Stay away from Circus Circus (8 years running!!)
- Finally, this year, hit it big!!


So, that’s my plan. We will see what I actually get to on that list..

Oh, I’d love to post this on a Downtown Forum! Just sayin..

Ask for a second (good) or third (better) floor room that faces Fremont Street at the GG. You can still open the windows, allowing for some often interesting late night people watching from your room.

Indeed.. I try and take a few moments during my trip to sit at a bar and jot down some of my thoughts/ideas for the trip report.. If the bartender has a heavy hand, the TR gets a bit sloppy..

Toss the Sams town shuttle drivers a few bucks. Also check out the Eastside Cannery while your there.

Marko, Have a great trip, I hope you get to do all the items on your list. I've given up on doing the all nighters, 2am maybe 3am one or two nights thats my limit, just can't do it anymore

Please dont hit it big at all the casinos marko, I will be staying downtown in 22 days

An itinerary is fine but don't let it get in the way of enjoying something. We make them as well we going somewhere but always remember, If we are enjoying something and want to stay longer instead of moving to next thing we do. They should only be a guide.... Enjoy your trip...

Dclinton, you've summed up my philosophy perfectly. And here is a story that exemplifies that.

One trip we had reservations at Del Frisco's off strip. We were staying at Venetian and popped into the bar at Pinot Brasserie for a cocktail. While imbibing we had a change of heart and decided to forgo taxi fare and stay on the strip. I called Del Frisco's and canceled the reservation. I called another restaurant on the strip, I believe Bradley Ogden and made a new Rez. But we never made it to Bradley Ogden because after a second drink we decided to dine at Pinot Brasserie. Lol

This is pretty much what we do. This time i'm actually making a pretty extensive list,we'll look at it when we feel like doing something and pick something. Or not.

Its a good thing my wife is so easy going as i am as well. We always find something to do/agree on and take it from there.
