However, the real issue in VP play is NOT how many royals you hit, but if you win or lose money... isn't it?

So, Im suggesting that we skip the royal flush madness and invite our regular VP players to let us know their running win/loss tally and that way we'll know who the better players are... and who the real BEST of the Best is!!

Me? Im out of the running already. On my very first trip, I am down about four-grand. No royals either. Im just a spectator when it comes to watching the "race to be VP king/queen."

Be brave now. Let us know the number that really counts. If you dare...

I used to enjoy your posts but you've become a know-it-all-asshole. I'm a low roller and when I go to Vegas, I enjoy chasing the royal and I have a blast. I don't need no LA high roller telling me how to have a good time or what I should do on my vacation. I would never bring my dog or my kids to Vegas and I mind my own business. I could give a shit less what your opinion is. GFO!

Jesus Christ! If MoneyLA gets under your skin this much on an internet forum and your blood boils over this bad, I'd be afaid of running into you in person.

Got it

I'll accept the challenge! I play mainly a mix of quarter and dollar single play, with a little $2 single play and quarter 5-play.

Don't have exact numbers, because I didn't have the patience to re-add until I got a consensus on each total. But here are the rough numbers...

Total coin-in so far this year...somewhere in the $66,000s or $67,000s.

Results on machines....about a loss of $2300

Cashback.....about $700

Bonus play (freeplay), drawings, coupons, etc.....about $100.

Net result so far....about -$1500. And I'm only 2/3 through the first month. So you can project from that what you will. No royals yet and no W-2Gs, so hoping for better results once those kick in.
River rat... what did you do with the cash back? how do you count the bonus play/drawings/coupons?

You go Jon!
Money, I can't speak for River Rat but when I track my results, I count all money as a result of gaming. I don't count meals, hotels, swag, cruises, etc. One can argue that these things do have value and some people place a fair market value on them to determine who much their gaming hobby costs them. OTOH, I argue that I would not have likely gone on the cruise, eaten as often at a high end restaurant, or used the hotel room (we have a condo in Vegas) so these things have zero value to me. Put another way, if I was playing with no potential for monetary gain and these were the only "prizes", I wouldn't play.

As for the cash back, bounce back, drawings, tournaments, etc., I do count any net cash won as profit. My position is that if I wasn't playing vp, I wouldn't have gotten the drawing tickets or the tournament invite so these aren't mutually exclusive events...one occured as a result of participating in the other.

Not wanting to open an old thread but this is how many of the people who make a living or subsidize their income justify playing vp. To be honest, without these ancilliary means of cash and opportunities, I don't believe that I made money in 2010 as a result of just vp alone.

Thanks Dan. The way I see it, "cash back" does indeed have a cash value if you put it in your pocket at the end of a session and walk out of a casino. While "bounce back" money has NO cash value if it has to be played. If "Bounce back" money can be immediately cashed out, then it does have a cash value.

"Bonus play" also has no cash value unless you can redeem bonus play for cash. However, what you win from "bonus play" that you actually put in your pocket is real cash that you can count towards your net amount.

Drawings and coupons have no cash value unless you are able to sell or redeem for cash.

So thats how I would count those "fringes" of gambling.

I'm really surprised that no one yet has listed another one of those very important "fringes of gambling",

Rick, we were outlining additions to bankroll and not drains from it.

Rick, when you can take home a pretty cocktail waitress, then you can count it as part of your wins.
