Thanks Dan. The way I see it, "cash back" does indeed have a cash value if you put it in your pocket at the end of a session and walk out of a casino. While "bounce back" money has NO cash value if it has to be played. If "Bounce back" money can be immediately cashed out, then it does have a cash value.

"Bonus play" also has no cash value unless you can redeem bonus play for cash. However, what you win from "bonus play" that you actually put in your pocket is real cash that you can count towards your net amount.

Drawings and coupons have no cash value unless you are able to sell or redeem for cash.

So thats how I would count those "fringes" of gambling.

Bonus play has cash value as soon as you play it through once. What you do with it after that is up to you. I usually play it as soon as I sit down at a machine, and then use the result as starter money for an actual session.

Most of the prizes in promotions at my casinos are cash (or have a cash alternative), although last month I won a television...and didn't count that as drawing winnings, even though I probably will have to pay taxes on it.

My casinos used to issue cash coupons, which were directly converted into cash. Seems like now all the coupons I get are reminders of when bonus play has been added to my account, and can be redeemed without a visit to the player's club or cashier.

riverrat, you are correct: "Bonus play has cash value as soon as you play it through once." but how do you figure "bonus play" in your "net results" ?

for example, if you get $100 in bonus play, but then play it through, and youre left with $25 you can't say your "$100 bonus play" is really worth $100. Or do you?

On the other hand, you play through your $100 of bonus play and hit a royal for $4,000. Then how do you count it?

Im really curious how you measure "bonus play" towards your bottom line? thanks.
I count it at whatever I end up with after playing it through once. My most recent result was $15 in bonus play that I used before a dollar session. I lost all three hands, so didn't record anything. If I had hit a RF, I would counted my bonus play as $4000+.
fair enuf. thanks.
