Stopping at the quick mart, convenience store,etc...

At my local 7-11, milk is slightly less than at the super market. I can also find the diet Snapple Peach tea in the large container, that I can't find at the supermarket. I also appreciate their coffee.

You don't go in them? Never? Never?

i go to 7-11 for crystal light slurpees all the time. i also go there for milk if im crawling home in the middle of the night and actually remember that i need milk for the next morning. oh and when im really drunk and can not resist buying some "im only eating this because im drunk" food on my way home from the train.

I missed where I said never. I think the last time I was in one was when stopping for gas on a road trip a couple of years ago, I wanted a soda. so I went in and got one. Generally though, no, I have no reason to go in them. For items such as toilet paper, if I am down to the last couple rolls, I add that to my grocery list for the week.

I didn't say you said never. I asked never.
I guess I'm human and run out of things from time to time and do stop at the corner conv. store.
I'll try to add things I'm low on to my list as you do..
lol
My kids would much rather have a jumbo dog and a Slurpee than a Happy Meal and it's way cheaper and usually way faster. Their hot chocolate is pretty good too. I can get three hot chocolates for the price of one at Starbucks and the mini mart has a buy six get one free punch card. Some things are more expensive but you have to pay for convenience. We had a mini mart nearby that was run by Albertsons that had the same prices as their grocery store across the parking lot. Unfortunately it just got bought out I'm sure higher prices are on the way. And they don't have Albertson's donuts anymore.

Makes sense. If we need milk, we go to the grocery store. It's not like they're scarce.
for me, buying everything in a grocery store is kind of like buying stuff in a convenience store. in nyc, you typically dont go to a supermarket and fill up a big cart and do a one stop shop. you go to individual stores for stuff.

toilet paper is never cheaper in a grocery store here. so to buy it at a grocery store is more of a convenience than a cost saver.

also, as stated by someone else earlier, milk is also cheaper in 7-11. so if you are buying it only at a supermarket, you are paying more for the convenience of not having to make a second stop to save a few pennies.

Jen's highlighted something that makes an impact: where you live. When I lived in a high-rise in a dense urban setting, I shopped far differently. By number of visits, we shop (in descending order) at Albertson's, the farmers market, Costco, TJs and direct from the field.

I have no idea if the convenience store sells milk for less; seems logical as a loss-leader given all coin they make off gas and the shit foods they sell. My guess is they don't carry the kind we drink, however.

my 7-11 does not carry the milk i prefer, neither does my local grocery store. its only in major supermarkets, which requires a mile walk each way.

when i do not have time to go shopping, its because im out every night, hence why i end up buying my non-preferred brand of milk at 7-11 in the middle of the night.
