The only disadvantage I see is getting even money on the pass line on the far outside points. Money behind should pay "true odds" unless they state they pay out different.

Placing an odds bet behind a pass line bet pays 3-1 on the 3 or 11 and 6-1 on the 2 or 12, according to the wizardofodds.com I looked at the game last time I stayed at the Strat, but I didn't play. The table was packed and there wasn't room for additional players.
Those would be true odds. There are six combinations of the 7 to only one combination of a 2 or 12 and there are 6 combinations of 7 to 2 combinations of 3 and 11 or 3 to 1. That being said once your point is made on the pass line, You are 6 times more likely to 7 out on a 2 or 12 and 3 times more likely to 7 out on a 3 or 11. Not having the 11 on the comeout reduces 25% of the comout wins. It is fun to say you tried it. You would never want to be serious with the game.
