Street Harrassment?

Just watched this video on CNN: New link

Is this harassment? I don't see it. I assume this is the most harassing harassment they filmed in 10 hours. Saying "good morning" is harassment?

The same thing happens to poor old DonDiego every time he takes a walk.
The woman is being filmed.
What did they expect would occur?

Plus I couldn't see precisely that the 'street people' caught on film were actually doing the speaking.

O2bnVegas has never in all her 67 years heard the term "street harrassment."
Indeed this must have been a very slow news day.
When I walk the mean streets of NYC and there's lots of talkative people. I don't consider it harassment.

Just think how mad she would have been if there would have not been any comments tossed her way. If you wear a lot of "war paint", a short skirt and a bra and top that makes the "boys" pop out and say "Hey look at me", almost all guys (and nowdays some girls) are going to stop, look and smile. Trashy comments are another thing though but hey... dress like a ho and you should be prepared to get treated like one.

Some comments where completely innocuous, some comments were in bad taste, many comments were somewhere in the middle. I was taught by my folks to treat woman with respect, and I would never distasteful comments to a woman.

Harassment? No.
They should try this same "scientific" experiment on the Strip in Vegas. Same dress and style mind you. Bet they don't get the same results.

There's validation to both sides. I believe it is all harassment to one degree or another. However, I believe she must take responsibility for her own actions. It is a sad reflection on modern society that this happens, but it does happen. It has become accepted. If one is abhorrent to the comments, wear a Burka.
They don't differentiate between men saying "hello" and men saying "nice ass". And that's more than a little ridiculous.
In no way does that demonstration rise to the level of harassment.

Harassment occurs when comments or actions are repetitive and continue despite the request that the comment or action cease. They can be verbal or non-verbal, such as the posting of offensive cartoons or other printed material. The action must have an adverse impact such as creating a "hostile" or uncomfortable work environment. Other impact includes the real or threatened loss of postion/pay if the harassed doesn't go along with the harasser, usually a boss or other person in position of power asking the subordinate to perform sexual favors.

Random cat-calls on the street do not meet any definition of harassment.

Is this a James O'Keefe video? Racist I tell ya!
