Stricter gun laws!

Why yes. Of course we need tougher gun laws. How much of this Chicago Gun Violence is being conducted by Felons? Half? More? Use a gun in commission of a crime get life in prison. Felon in possession of a gun get 30 years in prison. How about that? Tough enough?
The problem is while the City has tough laws, the State doesn't so that most gun possession charges are for a year and people usually get out in six to nine months. If they are incarcerated awaiting trial, that sometimes counts towards their sentence so its even less. Any sentence of a year or more and they go to State prison which are overcrowded so they release early. The people of Illinois think its Chicago's problem and wont build more prisons. County jails can only keep a prisoner for a year.
I think illegal possession of a gun should be at least a year served, more if used in a crime. the first time and five to ten the second. My friends that are cops tell me the trouble with alanleroys idea is it makes the criminal desperate and if they are going down for thirty or life, they have nothing to lose and will shoot it out. I'm not sure I agree but that's their view.

My cop friends tell me that when you give gun toting felons a slap on the wrist and put them back on the street, they are eventually going to shoot someone. Maybe a cop. Maybe another felon. Maybe an innocent.

If you start locking them up for 30 years or take the few 'desperate' ones out in a shoot out with police those perps are off the streets. More importantly, most felons in that position will eventually just stop carrying a gun to solve their problems because it won't be worth the risk. Hey! How about making shooting at a police officer an automatic death penalty case too. That would show we're serious.

Billryan's police friends were afraid that not being lenient with armed criminals might cause them to be desperate and to start shooting it out with the police rather than peaceably surrender. The death penalty might give the criminals pause.

In about the last quarter century, the murder rate in Chicago has DECLINED 40%. And the last eight years have been by far the safest for police officers in decades.

If you are surprised by those two stats, please change the channel. There are people pocketing serious money by making you stupid-er.

From CBS News---TODAY:
Chicago grapples with HISTORIC gun violence.

August deadliest month in 2 decades.
522 Homicides this year.
3000 shootings.
Year over Year homicides up 62%

"Late last month, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and his Rainbow PUSH Coalition said Chicago was in a state of “undeclared war,” calling the August homicide numbers “mind-boggling” and “spirit-numbing.”

“We cannot just throw up our hands and go about business as usual,” Jackson said in a statement. “We must not surrender or accept this as the norm.”"

I guess we need to put the Reverend Jackson firmly in the People making serious money making us stupid-er category. I always kind of suspected that....but here I thought he was speaking out about a serious problem.

Or do we believe "Head in the Sand" forky that there's nothing to see here?

Nope. He's one of those pocketing serious money by making people stupid-er. And alanleroy, you know what that makes you.

Once again, Mr. Ghetto Run forkush has demonstrated his ignorance in the face of real facts.

So using Forkies graph...with over 30% of the year 2016 to go, Chicago has ALREADY had more homicides than any year since 2005. Worst in 10 years and Forkush thinks that just dandy...because....the Murder rate is down from 1990!

If this trend keeps up, we'll be back to the 1990 number in no time at all...Heck if this year's trend continues, we'll be close to 700 murders this year. And forkush....you know what that makes you? Bad at understanding math...yes...but also....Blind partisan idiot. There you go!
