Chicago hasn't had a Republican mayor for nearly 100 years --- yet they keep voting Democrat. The people who live there are reaping what they sow.

So without any probable cause whatsoever, you're cool with cops frisking and then confiscating guns? I'm not surprised to hear anything from Mr. Trump, but I'm surprised to hear that from you.

Or did I misunderstand?

No convicted felon is allowed to own / carry a gun. If a felon is found with a gun, he should go directly to jail AND the gun should be confiscated. BTW --- most of the police shootings today (i.e. Charlotte) involve felons with guns who have nothing to lose and, as a result, are less than compliant with police commands.
I wish the folks on the west and south sides of Chicago could decide forkies question for themselves. I honestly believe that they would concede a bit of freedom for a whopping degree of safer living. Very easy for those not living with the day to day fears to stand up for equal treatment for law breaking felons.
Time for a Ghetto Walk!

No they don't. In the case of the four million or so stop-and-frisks in New York City, 1.5% had weapons. That's detaining and frisking people with 98.5 false positives out of 100. And it's even worse than that, because blacks and Hispanics were much more likely to be detained, while the stats show they were LESS likely to be carrying weapons.

And what do you call it when we get rid of the need for probable cause and substitute a cop's intuition? A police state. And yes, police states do have lower crime rates, so there's that.
Isn't a DUI checkpoint pretty much the same thing? As cars pass through look for someone suspicious and interrogate closer - if someone does a U-turn to avoid the DUI checkpoint, they are certainly suspicious. But you argue, DUI checkpoints save innocent lives! I contend stop, question, and detain suspicious people ALSO saved lives.

Funny you should mention that. In Chicago, Predominately Black areas are profiled for DUI stops too.

"A Tribune investigation found that in Chicago, 84 percent of the roadside checks were scheduled in areas populated mostly by minorities while roadways in areas with more DUI-related crashes that are predominantly white are checked less often, or not at all. Federal guidelines suggest, however, that when choosing where to set up checkpoints, agencies should use objective criteria, such as a high incidence of alcohol-related crashes."

The BLM folks are just hallucinating this shit. Cops who are shown to profile shouldn't just be fired, they should go to prison.
Forky - good article and I agree this should not be the case. But this is what you get with Democrats controlling the city for 100+ years.

This line was especially telling - and presumably Illegal:

IDOT requires most departments to issue at least one ticket for every 60 minutes of patrol and arrest one drunken driver for every 10 hours of patrolling. ederal officials have not attached ticket quotas to the grant money, but state transportation officials said they have adopted the quotas as a "performance measure" to ensure accountability.
So D'Andre Jones, with 14 total arrests and 3 felony arrests suddenly isn't a bad guy.................simply because stop and frisk urges him forces him to leave his gun at home? Forkie's mind works in a twisted fashion.

In billy's own words 60,000 guns were taken off the streets. How many lives were saved as a result? Earlier stats showed that blacks/hispanics commited over 90% of the homicides in NYC in 2009. With that data who should be stopped?

Liberals have to understand that blacks/hispanics commit crimes at rates far exceeding their population & that needs to stop. They have nobody to blame but themselves
