I'm enjoying your reports, Jon. We were just in LV two weeks ago for a short getaway and your trip(s) seem so much more interesting! Wish we had the ability to take our time and just enjoy the surroundings, but we try to cram quite a bit into our short time there.
Our home base back in the mid to late 90s was ST. They had an unbelievable special from DFW - four nights, daily breakfast, and a tiny bit of slot play - for $149. If you had a nice hit on quarters, you could play for hours. Those breakfasts at Smokey Joe's café were awesome. You could get a ham steak special that was so big, you had to look under the ham steak to find your eggs and hash browns. We also never knew they had a pool until a few years later.
We visited ST last year and found the current clientele abrasive and loud. I think it is the movie theater that may bring them in. Onsite parking lots seemed to be a security risk. We tried to maneuver across the parking lots to get to The Cannery and never made it. We got lost in a mobile home/RV park and finally just gave up and went back to Aliante, where we were staying.
Keep the TRs coming!
