Tablet update

Your going to have to get a video encoder most people seem to be using a free program called HandBreak. (I am assuming the DVDs are already ripped.)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HandBrake

Of course it gets complicated as to exactly what settings to use for conversion. I found these on the android forums:

video settings:
Encoder: H.264
Resolution: 1280 x 720
Frame Rate: 30 FPS
Video Bitrate: 2500 kbps

Audio Settings:
Encoder: AAC
Sample Rate: 44100 Hz
Channels: 2
Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps

Well i figured out the music, turned out to be rather simple actually. One problem i have tho,i cant get the earbuds to work, only the sound comes through on the speakers,GRRR.

Mal,

A new clarification on the 4G service. I didn't open the tablet I bought from Best Buy. I took the unopened box over to a Verizon Wireless store and they looked at the code numbers on the side and the front. The box didn't say "Verizon 4G certified". Supposedly the tablets produced for Verizon have added chips in them. I took the unopened tablet back to Best Buy and got my money back and ordered through Verizon, which was $30 more. I'm a little ticked that they claim the price was something like $799 and they discounted it to $629, but claim they have to charge California sales tax on the $799 amount.

I mistakenly thought in order to surf the internet you have to have WIFI. You don't. I just got the tablet today (along with a 5GB plan). If I browse the internet on my pad I'm going against my 5GB plan, however I can go to a "WiFI" hot spot and change the pad over to the "WIFI". If I do that, I don't use up any of my plan. Anyhow I have a lot to learn on this. They have You Tube as a link already, so I went and played a couple of videos. The videos played right away and didn't pause while playing.
I am glad you got it all sorted out, and hope you enjoy your tablet. For anyone looking for a cheap Wi-Fi only tablet Overstock has color Nooks for $159.00 It is more of an e-reader than a pure tablet, but you can surf the web, check your email, watch flash videos, and play angry birds on it.

John, This made me check out mine, because I was saving the earbuds just for the plane.

When I plugged them in, the sound came over the earbuds and the external speakers shut off.
However I had to push the connector hard to get it all the way in. Just maybe you didn't do that, and that could be your problem.

To get movies from a DVD to the tablet, wouldn't you just load the DVD on your laptop,
then kind of do a "drag and drop-thingy-process" to the tablet.

........ or is it more complex than this ???

Anyone know ????
