Tablets

What one do you own and why do you like it?
I have a Nook HD and my wife has an iPad. I prefer by desktop with keyboard, mouse and dual monitors. I don't use my Nook that much but my wife uses her iPad a lot. The iPad is more polished than the Nook. The iPad just works a little smoother and faster but the Nook is great for the money. My son has a Nexus that he likes.

What do you want to do with it?
I have an I pad 1 and one thing I don't like about is the photo storage. One would think you would be able to set up folders by categories - no can do, no apps - NOTHING.

I also use it for internet access, video and some reading; although I am still old school on books.
I have a samsung galaxy 10.1 and use it primarily for internet. It comes in handy at dialyis to pass the time. I've used it for some pics and took video a few times but that's it. I'm also old school and prefer paper books, something kinda weird about E-books, to me anyway.

Overall, I'm really happy with it, battery life is great, I've never run out. Only thing I don't like is typing on the damn thing, typos galore and a PITA to try and edit.

Oh yea, use it to watch netflix in the bedroom and found thats really handy.

I would say mine is primarily used for Netflix/Amazon Prime and web surfing as I prefer to work with a keyboard. I don't really read books on it because I prefer print books to ebooks. In my House there is an: ipad, Nook, Kindle Fire and Samsung Galaxy Tab. If you're looking for something cheap to watch movies on you really can't beat the Nook right now as it is only $149 for a 9 inch tablet. If you're looking to spend more than that I would recommend an iPad as they hold their value. A first generation iPad will still fetch $200 but even 2 generation android tablets make a nice doorstop and that is about it.
I have two and really prefer a laptop to either one. A tablet is okay for cruising the web and really cool for when I travel. I don't have any critical information on the tablet so if it gets stolen it is no great loss.
Also the long battery life comes in handy when watching movies on a plane.

Typing on the thing is next to impossible for me. I guess at 56 years of age and two decades of Windows and a keyboard and mouse it is hard to change. What I do love about the tablet is the battery life and keeping it connected to my home stereo for music playback. BTW most tablets can handle up to a 64 gig memory chip even though they don't advertise that fact.

I have an Acer A200 which is just okay and a cheapie $89.00 Chinese tablet I bought at https://www.merimobiles.com/

If you are sitting on the fence about a tablet maybe you could by a cheap one like I did and if you find you like it then maybe go high end down the road and use the cheapie for music playback like I do. If you want to go high end now you won't go wrong with an Asus everybody I know that owns one absolutely loves it.

I also have the Galaxy 10.1 . I don't type I use the speak feature, have you tried that? When I do, I feel like the song in the year 2525.

I use mine for traveling, to read books, check e mail and to play the MyVegas game. Love the graphics. At&t was running a special when I upgraded my phone I bought the tablet for $99.
I also have a Samsung Galaxy 10.1.

At the time, (not sure about now) it was lighter than the I-Pad,
and had two speakers for stereo as oppossed to only one speaker for the I-Pad.

Funny thing is, that now I hardly use it.
Between the Samsung Galaxy III cell phone that I recently bought,
my computer at work, and my laptop at home, I don't really seem to need it.

There's a speaking feature!?

LOL jatki99 look for the little microphone and touch it . It takes some practice you do have to talk a bit slower and enunciate clearly but it is still quicker than typing for me.
