Technology Is Killing Our Jobs

Many of us dealers have side jobs. Some of us teach school or sell real estate. In the past we did it for extra income but now it is a necessity as shifts have been cut and now the new electronic tables. Think about us when you play them.
So far the outlook for those is bad, the electronic dealers are nowhere near as good as the humans they replaced.
I would expect them to be scrapped in a few years.
moredeals, you can't count on us. Some jobs just aren't forever.

Ask someone who used to play a movie house organ during silent movies.

Ask a telephone or elevator operator.

Heck, ask one of the former casino workers who used to be paid to walk the floor and make change. CHANGE!

I know it hurts, and some part of me wishes it didn't work this way, but the market is telling you something. Whether you hear it, and how you react, are your choices to make.

Don't count on us.

If they make money they won't be scrapped. I won't play them, I like table games, but like Chilcoot said "Some jobs just aren't forever."

It will suck when you step into a casino and it's like an arcade with one guy walking around to make sure the machines are working.

Edited to add: I know lots of people that won't play table games because they feel social pressure, they're afraid to screw up in front of others, so they sit alone on machines. They will play mecha Craps, Roulette, and BJ, kinda sad.

51, I very rarely see people on them so they can't be making much from the machines.

Some people just don't want to deal with all the assholes so they like the machines. Nothing sad about it.

The people that like machines aren't sad, it will be sad if table games go away. If machines make those games more accessible, and more successful, casinos will look more like arcades than casinos. That would make me sad.

Great! I hope it stays that way, like everything else in a casino, if it doesn't make money, it's gone.

Electronic table
(pros) dont have to tip the dealer, great for beginners, low limits
(cons) they are boring

I sometimes play them especially if the casino allows them to be used with free slot play. They are also good if you just want to play one or two hands and leave...dealers dont like to shuffle 10 decks if you are going to leave after 2 hands.
I like the Rapid Craps game at Bills.

The advantages are:
There is a real life Stick Man, so it doesn't entirely lose it's human element...
All the bets are paid immediately
All the bets are paid 100% accurately
You can immediately assess how much you're betting and how much is in your tray.
You can quicly and accurately get bets down at the last second without interupting the game.
You can sit.
Low Limits
Technology is killing dealer jobs - but on the flip side there is another person hired to maintain the machine and keep in working order - there are factory workers hired to build the machines, deliver the machines etc.

I think dealers will be reduced; but eventually be brought back.
Was like the "self-serve" checkout lanes at grocery stores 10 years ago they were huge, K-Mart used them then 5 years ago removed them.
The trend is to remove them and go back to chashiers. Albertsons and Krogers are recent examples.

My guess is that the next big Vegas resort (yes there will be one) will probably go back to the themed style of resort.
Even car manufactures go back to old designs, Jag did it with E-Type styling, Ford Mustang, Dodge Charger etc.
