Te'o

Let's not let Notre Dame itself off the hook here. They knew about the whole situation in late December and let the situation continue for three more weeks.

Something struck me as wrong when he talked about his dead girlfriend on TV months ago. It was like watching a play, not real life.

Why didn't he attend the funeral or have any contact with her parents after she died?

Maybe he has some mental illness or he's just really dumb but I think he was in on the hoax.

there was an interview after her 'death' where he mentioned the support of her family

Someone on a sports talk radio show here in Atlanta in a very subtle way suggested the same thing Chilcoot.

Tammi from N. GA

Then that settles it.

His story to me sounds like something a gay man might concoct if he didn't feel he could come out of the closet. "Oh, yeah, I have this totally hot girlfriend, but she lives a long way away, you don't know her."

Then, with the heat on: "Oh, yeah, um, she died. Yeah, real sad, I'm super bummed."

I can't imagine a straight, star linebacker at Notre Dame having this problem.

I will admit that this is what I was thinking. It makes a lot more sense than the rumor of garnering sympathy for Heisman votes.

He may well be like Lance armstrong said "I'M A FLAWED CHARACTER" When you have celebrity status they call it everything accept what it really is. Lance Armstrong should have said I'm a person who never played by the rules----I'm a liar---I'm a a cheat---and I'm a worthless individual for what I have done to his foundations. Let's fac eit before he done with all the sob stories he going to make out like he is a hero. Like OJ write his sorry ass off the media highs and let him suffer.
Just like Barry Bonds, you have to be a little starry-eyed to have ever believed that either one was clean.
There's a difference between someone who lies and someone who cheats. I wouldn't put him in the same bucket as Lance Armstrong or Roger Clemens.

I dont know if Te'o made up the lie to get Heismann votes...or maybe he just had a fantasy that he lied about that ultimately grew beyond his control? I dont know. I dont care. It small potatoes compared to the cheaters.

You're right. He's not a cheater.

A. He's just not very smart and was duped. This seems unlikely. As mentioned above, he is star player. He could get all the lady friends he wanted and could have surely met his fake lady friend for some intimacy had he wanted to. And, why wouldn't he want to.

B. He's gay and this was some ruse. It's sad that society would force him to do this and make him feel like this was necessary.

C. He had a bevy of lady friends to fornicate with on campus and made up the fake lady friend symptomatic of some sort of personality disorder.

Saw an interview yesterday with an NFL running back that said he actually met this so called non existant girlfriend.
