Terrorism in my America.

[blah, blah, blah]
Article by Phillip Bumb.

i. DonDiego has been unable to find the cited article in the Washington Post; he checked back 4 months. DonDiego respectfully requests all posters be more diligent in providing identifiable sources or, even better, links. Thanks in advance.

ii. Umm, . . . actually it is Phillip Bump, not "Bumb". [Such "errors" make it difficult to fact check posts. DonDiego has faith in billryan's honesty, but he fears other LVA posters may begin to get suspicious of billryan's competence or truthfulness.]
iia. DonDiego encourages interested readers, if any, to investigate Mr. Bump's employment history and earlier writings for publications other than The Washington Post for any evidence of political bias. [The interested reader, if any, should not take this suggestion as suggesting any nefarious cause for the misspelling of Mr. Bump's name in the original post.]

iii. Statistically the sample size for death by terrorist, are just too small for Mr. Bump to reach such conclusions regarding the "odds" that one would experience other deaths compared to "death by terrorist act". Any such assertions should be accompanied by a "confidence level" so the reader has an idea of the "meaningfulness" of the conclusion.
Not to mention that arrival of unidentified terrorists in larger numbers could increase the incidence of "death by terrorist act" in America.

I never like these kinds of arguments.

School kids have a better chance of dying in a Bus Accident than being killed by a homicidal student with a gun. So then....I guess we should not bother addressing the latter, right?

Terrorism is a real problem and needs a thoughtful solution. I would opine many of the people who are needed to help fight Islamic extremism are currently being stiff-armed, singled out, and stereo typed by the current administration and its policies. But elections have consequences. This is how the alt-right wants to go forward. Americans should voice their opinions to their legislators accordingly.

In my America, the terror massacres in Bowling Green and Atlanta never happened, so your stats might differ.
Did you know that you are 73 times more likely to die by falling down stairs than in a terror attack?
That almost 28 times as many Americans freeze to death then are killed by terrorist?
You are 5.8 times more likely to die from constipation than in an attack.
Three times more likely to fall off a cliff, or be killed by a wild, non domestic animal.
Five times more likely to die of Legionnaires Disease.
In fact, one of the very very very few ways you are more like to die from a terror attack than is if you somehow die from Ebola.

Remember this classic-STOP THE FLIGHTS! NO VISAS FROM EBOLA STRICKEN COUNTRIES!

Is this supposed to make the family's of Orlando, San Bernadino or other people feel better? Comparing accidents to vicious unwarranted attacks on innocent people, what exactly is your post supposed to prove billy?

BTW does this include all the Irish jihadists killings?. I don't see it mentioned.

I'm curious PJ, who are the ones who are needed to fight islamic terrorism and why are they being "stiff armed" and "stereotyped"?

Except Billy's off by a factor of 1000. Obama spent about $45 BILLION per year, and 1/3 of a TRILLION total on homeland security. I pulled the spending data from the homeland security website. The annual expenditures are listed within their annual report.

Now, let's go back to Billy's example..............since he's fond of putting things into perspective. Obama spent $115 million per day over the past 8 years on homeland security. Billy points out that Nevada sports books took in $135 million over the Super Bowl weekend "in bets". That works to a profit of about $6.7 million for entire state's casinos. Obama spent that amount on Homeland security every 82 minutes for eight straight years. Obama spent that amount over 51,000 times during his presidency.

So again, maybe we could save a few bucks by keeping the bad guys off of our lawn.

The Nevada Sports Books took in $135 million in bets on the Super Bowl last weekend.
Kind of puts it in perspective doesn't it.
If I had to guess, I'd say boils figures are way off, but lets give him the benefit of the doubt.

The article is in today's Post. It's one of the featured stories. Maybe Dondis Google skills have gone the way of the woogieboggie.
If this is directed towards me, please explain what I was mistaken about. Maybe start with just one number, and we'll go from there.

All the muslims who aren't terrorists.
Both of them?
Don't you realize to these folks, the two terms are interchangeable.
Billy, say what you mean and mean what you say. You were off by a factor of 1000, and now you mince words. Tell me exactly what I was incorrect about, please.
