Salvatore Tessio

Ah, I didn't realize Tessio was one of the original three. Was he the one in the bowler hat who suggests his "friend" has a rug he can have?

That was young Clemenza, played by Bruno Kirby. If I remember correctly, Tessio was also in the scene inside the office (which would become the Genco Oil Co.) when the landlord don (can't recall his name) came in to apologize to (young) Vito for dissing him when he (Vito) had approached him on the street asking him to ease up on the lady who he was evicting because she had a dog. The landlord had not known that Vito was a rising star in the mafia. After he learns this he was coming to Vito to get back in his favor. Wasn't Tessio was the one to unlock the door to let the landlord in, and then to let him out when he (landlord) couldn't open the door? I don't recall that actor's name as young Tessio.

Bruno Kirby died too young. He was a good actor.

You nailed it on young Tessio. I believe the actor who portrayed Tessio was also in Goodfellas and was the frozen stiff on the meat hook in the truck.

To simplify confirmation/denial of any claims as to his death the website www,abevigoda.com was initiated to address the reality.

Regrettably, today the site confirms his death.

I did like him as Fish in Barney Miller.

RM:

John Aprea played young Tessio, Frank Sivero played Goodfella's Frankie Carbone. Henry Hill's narration: “When they found Carbone in the meat truck, he was frozen so stiff it took them three days to thaw him out for the autopsy".

Actually Sivero was in Godfather II and was probably the guy who could open the door when the landlord could not. Sivero just didn't play young Tessio. In IMDB they say he played Genco Abbandando. He was a street extra in Godfather I.

[EDIT] This is Sivero in GFII
Someone told that they put part One and Two into one movie is this correct or was it just they showed all 3 in a row. Please let me know as I checked HBO and nothing was there.

Thanks,

It is available on HBOGO. If you have cable or DirecTv and subscribe to HBO, then you should be able to get it for free.

I beieve it is titled the Godfather Saga.

They combined I and II, but they put it in chronological order. They also appear to have added every scene that dropped to the cutting room floor from the first two.

The movie is slightly over seven hours. It actually starts off with the funeral march in Corleone Italy, where shots are fired. I never realized young Vito had an older brother, but in the saga, the older brother is killed.

Thanks for the info I'll check it out.
