Texas Gang Fight

OK, this is more like it, . . . a good old fashioned non-political gang fight among bikers, . .. in 'murica ! ! !

Nine dead, . . . so far. No cops hurt. No civilians hurt.

Ref: CNN

Apparently the Waco, Texas Twin Peaks Restaurant, where the fight took place had been "less than helpful in dealing with gangs in the past."

For anyone wishing to participate at the Twin Peaks,
__Wednesday 20 May is the Miss Twin Peaks Waco Bikini Contest
__Thursday 21 May is "Bike Night" where one can purchase $3 Domestic Beer Bottles, $3 Select Party Shots, $3 Long Island Teas, and $5 Twin Peaks Single Patty Burger on the patio.

Enjoy !

According to the reporter on the scene, it started as a fight over a parking space.

Well, at least it was about something really important.

Twin Peaks knew there were going to be five rival biker gangs meeting there.

What could possibly go wrong with that?

Exactly.

Rival biker gangs are known for settling disputes in an amicable fashion, that only rarely escalates beyond chains and knives.

Allowing people to carry concealed weapons into a bar what could possibly go wrong with that?

Just a reminder that the NRA and Rick Perry said doing so would make everyone safer.

I am not sure what the pace was supposed to do about it as the weapons were legal to carry into the place because of some buffoonery on the part of Perry and the NRA.
Well Mal, your wrong about all that.

Perry had nothing to do with Concealed weapons permits. It's been around since the mid 1990's. I believe Ann Richards, a Democrat, signed the bill into law.

A concealed permit holder MAY NOT take a weapon, concealed or not, into a bar, or anyplace that derives more than 50% of their income from the sale of alcohol.

Being a member of any affiliation that has a history of crime or violence precludes a person from eligibility for a concealed weapon permit.

So, as soon as we heard the news of this event we called the in-laws as they live fairly close to the area. They did indeed hear about it. They also said there were items in the local news as early as Friday about the event to take place and the lack of cooperation between local establishments and the police.
I was told by my father-in-law (a concealed weapon permit holder) that most upstanding, law abiding citizens (the kind that would hold a concealed weapons permit) don't go near the place.
I believe the establishment in question qualifies as a restaurant making them legal. That restaurant is like Hooters. Concealed carry + alcohol and half naked women. What could possibly go wrong? To me it is bizarre to say the restaurant needed to keep them out. Most bikers aren't gang members and in fact it is high income demographic so it makes perfect sense a place like this would have a bikers night. Are the minimum wage workers in the place supposed to interrogate everyone that comes in? How would that work? "Sir are you affiliated with an outlaw biker gang?" They can't remove of them because they have guns so on what basis are you going to ask them to leave?

Quad Peaks

I am sure most of these guns were illegal
DonDiego cannot find the Waco Twin Peaks licensing from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission website. All the Twin Peaks which he does find apparently do not require a "51%+ license", so firearms are not banned.

Those establishments serving alcohol are still required to post a sign informing patrons that carrying a firearm into the facility without a carry permit is illegal.

However, hoops 2 makes a valid point, . . . how likely is it that members of the Banditos and Cossacks, and Scimitars are likely to have gone to the trouble of obtaining carry permits anyway.
