Texas Gang Fight

"You [Texans] can carry an assault rifle into a Chili's."
__Technically an assault rifle is a selectable-fire weapon, i.e. a rifle capable of fully-automatic fire. Although Texas does permit open-carry for rifles as do most states, ownership of an assault rifle would require Federal Permits as required in all 57 states.
Most states do not permit open-carry for handguns, just as Texas does not.
Just for interest, Arizona does allow open-carry of handguns and when he lived there DonDiego would occasionally see folks downtown with revolvers on their hips, . . . presumedly out-of-towners come to town for provisions and such. He never once felt endangered.

"What more do you [Texans] want? The right to do it shirtless?"
__Such regulation of appropriate dress is the option of local proprietors, as in all 57 states. DonDiego hopes such decisions are not federalized.

For the record Bill Maher has stated that he "owns guns for personal home protection." He is not as dumb as he sounds. DonDiego trusts Mr. Maher is as safety conscious as poor old DonDiego and does not intend to seek out and participate in gang fights, but will employ his weapon only if an appropriate threat comes to him.

So did anyone hear how DonDiego saved a helicopter crew? They were lost in the fog trying to find a safe place to land, and when they hovered near DonDiego's window with a sign that read, "Where are we?", DonDiego returned with a sign that read, "You are in helicopter."

They were thus able to find a safe place to land, because they knew that had to be DonDiego's house. Why? Because the person in the window had given them information that was completely accurate...and utterly useless.
To reiterate what was already said. As a Texan and a CHL holder myself - I'm guessing it was HIGHLY unlikely that any of the armed men involved carried either a) a legally registered firearm or b) held the proper licensing to carry it in the first place. Plus - no one outside of the gang members were injured in the incident. This was not a random act of violence - the gang member knew exactly who they wanted to hurt. Now, I haven't completely done my research on this but I'm going to bet that almost all of the places that have fallen victim to a random mass shootings were places that did NOT allow Concealed handguns to be carried. Which made it easier for the coward to carry out his plan. Being that CHL holders are law abiding citizens they wouldn't break that law and carry in those places....

I know that's a little off point here but just stating my opinion.

Also - along the same lines of what was already said. Management knew or should have at least been aware that they were biker "gang" members. Much different than a biker "club" that usually does include a higher demographic member.

There were already quite a few law enforcement on the premises. So obviously they knew what was about to happen but without the help of the management who are they to remove those people from the establishment.

57? You have ketchup on the brain or is that a reference beyond my comprehension?

"I've now been in 57 states. I think one left to go."
I don't think DonDiego appreciates it when the black helicopters hover outside his window.

Self-correcting errors.

Au contraire.

DonDiego's post informed the reader that the State of Texas does not allow one to carry an assault rifle into a Chili's, . . . contrary to Mr. Maher's assertion.

And DonDiego made clear that whether one can go shirtless into a Chili's is typically a local decision, in every State including Texas, . . . contrary to Mr. Maher's assertion that the state of Texas apparently is responsible for a presumed decision prohibiting it.

Finally DonDiego pointed out that in spite of his anti-Texas, anti-gun rant, . . . Mr. Maher is an admitted gun owner "for protection".

Any information is useless if the reader chooses not to comprehend it.
This is why we need to impose martial law on Texas. Send in the Army.
DonDiego supposes the gang members will be held responsible for the carnage around Twin Peaks. Nonetheless, it could be interesting when examination of the deceased reveals how many deaths were by police personnel. And what legal wrangling may ensue.
