I agree that the NFL wishes that deflategate never happened. They don't want any cheating in football, and certainly not with the Super Bowl champions.
Since multiple refs were involved in ball pressure testing, they have several witnesses. I'm certain that the NFL has since tested the pressure gauges, and have confirmed that the guages performed within specifications.
11 balls changed pressure and 13 didn't. All which were changed fell in hands of the Patriots. Someone withing the Patriots organization cheated, and there will be substantial penalties handed down to the the Patriots.

Well here's the deal ...........To all of you jealous Patriot haters.
The NFL probably wished it had never opened this bucket of worms,
and in the end there will be very little or no action at all taken on the Patriots.
Was there any documentation or witnesses that the refs inspected the footballs prior to the game ?
I would think that there were 3 separate tools used to gauge the footballs (refs, Patriots, and Colts),
Were these tools recently calibrated for accuracy ?
There are just way too many variables to come to any conclusion.
In addition, with the ultimate scrutiny and monitoring of footballs for the Super Bowl,
the Patiots had zero dropped passes and zero fumbles,
......... along with Tom Brady breaking a Super Bowl passing record with 37 completions.
Oh yeah, ......... just one more thing, ................................
