The article does not conclude what Boilerman (and the author) would like you to believe it concludes.
The article says ELECTRICITY prices are higher in states with the most wind power. I have no doubt that is true. The author does not show if the higher prices are due to wind...he just notes the correlation and wants the reader to assume cost increase are due to wind instead of other variables.. Mission accomplished (at least for some of his readers).
None of the states in the article get more than 28% of their electricity from Wind....some less than 10%

Electricity prices can go higher in places where there is massive population and economic expansion (like the Dakotas)...or to pay for new grid infrastructure (like the Dakotas).... or higher costs from other power sources. But the author does not consider any of these factors or even bother to research the variables of the electricity costs in the states he lists.
I don't have the data handy that shows Dollars per KW/hr for each power type in each state the author lists (and neither does he)....but that would be the responsible and accurate way to report the costs he is talking about.
I suspect wind is more expensive than nat gas and coal...and also carries less risk, pollution, and long term environmental effects - which is why I advocate its development.
