But I did ! I went back and underlined it for you and other reading impared posters. I'm helpful that way.

I'm also reposting the comic the spells out your massive hypocrisy on executive orders....not because I expect you to learn anything from it - it just amuses me.

PJ supported Obama's Constitutional end run regarding the import of immigrants, giving them many benefits along the way. If he's going to do that, the GOP needs to go on the offensive with no apologies.

Isn't funny how the Libs are already complaining as the GOP gears up to "Bork" Obama's Supreme Court candidate.

Rational people realize the difference between objecting to a specific nominee, and refusing to consider any candidate.
I trust Billy isn't aware of Robert Bork.

You'd be mistaken, as usual. What part of my statement dont you understand? Bork was rejected because Democrats felt he wasn't worthy of being on the court, not simply because democrats were not going to approve anyone. The next nominee withdrew after admitting he smoked pot. The next was approved 97-0, in the spring of an election year.

Who is complaining? I'm anxiously awaiting Pat Toomey and Rob Portman trying to tell voters in their states they are moderates who reach across the aisle - even as they block a Supreme Court Justice. I fully encourage Boilerman and all like minded conservatives to demand those Senators follow Ted Cruz on this matter. I'm sure that will work out great for their campaigns in the huge tea-party bastions of the North East.

And in the meantime all cases before the Supreme Court will be without the input of the court's most conservative member.

The head of the Senate Judiciary committee publically stated Obama should not nominate anyone. How do you negotiate with some that refuses to schedule any hearing on any nominee through the committee? You are blaming the wrong person again Alan. Republican’ announced within a few minutes of Scalia’s being reported dead that they weren’t willing to compromise and that any nominee was unacceptable. Their idea of a compromise is waiting until after the election.

If I was the president I would reach out to Republicans...and then if my hand was bitten I'd take it to the bully pulpit.

I agree with you that it's wrong to not vote on the nominee. Instead it would be far better if the Republicans simply have caustic hearings where they go for months looking into any way possible to destroy the nominee and then vote in a block against him or her. You know..Bork him. Just to keep up appearances.

McConnell blew that plausible deniability out of the gate by announcing he was going to obstruct. I think that was rather foolish of him. He could have dithered around for months before people started to question the Republican’s motives, but now they are under the microscope from day one.

You're right, but I'm, not gonna hold 'em to their word they won't consider anyone. Too much at stake to look like assholes and flat refuse to see anyone. I think it would be in the best interest for the country to put up a middle of the road moderate. Didn't Obama even say during the SOTU about how he regrets not reaching across more?
I firmly believe if a pure liberal gets put up, well a snow ball has a better chance...

You know...the Advice part of Advice and Consent. It would be a tremendous show of bipartisanship in these troubled and polarizing times...
I agree that Obama's nominee should appeal to Republicans. You know, like:

  • George W. Bush's belief in immigration reform,
  • Ronald Reagan's belief in sensible gun control,
  • Barry Goldwater's belief in the rights of gay Americans,
  • John McCain's belief in campaign finance reform,
  • Dwight Eisenhower's belief in the value of strong labor unions,
  • The belief of virtually every Republican in the Senate when the Voting Rights Act passed 98-0 in 2006.

    Ain't bipartisanship great!
