This is about the game of CRAPS!

I'll have to quote myself to start this thread:

I'll do Boyd's properties without hesitation.
I'll do MSS again, but The Fremont gets my play this October.
Screw The Plaza---too many bad reviews, lately.
Gimme my beers on a 1/2 hour rotating basis and I'm a happy gambler.
Harrah's was not so good in that respect but a good casino.
Some day,I won't be such a cheap-ass and book a high-end property.
P.S. : I tried my FIRST Mojito and.... HATED it.
I'll just do beer and I expect it to be comped.
At the bars,I'll just buy what ah wanna drink.
if I'm(Actively playing) at a bar top,
I do expect to be comped,EVERY time.
If I screw up w/ my free odds,I'll expect a correction,EVERY time.
The dealers and the players make it fun to gamble at the tables.
If you want a comp,ASK the pit people.
Never had an issue with any Boyd properties.
"Can I get a buffet comp? Sure, for how many?" Is the usual reply.
My last visit, the Pit person simply HANDED me a 5,000 point coupon for a freebie.
Craps was very good to me that night at The Fremont.
When a lady shooter made MONSTER place bet of mine ,I would shuffle over and whisper in her ear,"Thanks, honey!" Then shuffle back to my place at the table.
The dealers were happy to place the tips that I tossed to those on MY NUMBERS!(Well the come ,anyway).
4 and 10 are MY numbers.
I don't usually play the hard ways.
The Grand is my next stop for a fun craps session in October, guys.
I'm looking forward to an excellent game, indeed.
LET'S GAMBLE!
I'll be the old guy in the CAMO pants with a Corona in his right hand and a cigarette going in the lower rail ,chips arranged in a nice ,colorful pattern.
I'll go with the LADY shooters.
27 across will be fun.
"Thanks ,honey!"

The good thing about the game of craps is that SHOUTING is allowed and there is more of that compared to BJ,IMO.

I'll do the basic pass line bet and wait for the point and load up the FREE ODDS bet, behind the line and then place a come bet, right away.

Depending on the house limits and the shooter and the mood I'm in,I'll bet a medium sized bet on the come line.

I like to MAXX out the odds, if I have the bank to place it.

10X odds? Oh yeah, baby.

2 red chips and a black chip for odds will get your adrenaline up a bit.

The more big bets I win ,the happier the dears get with my tips.

The dealers will always tout the hard way bets and the C and E bets because that's where the casino's money is made, usually.

The ONE ROLL bets are always(usually) a bad idea:2,12,FIELD,C&E.

Those are sucker bets.

I will NOT quote the hose(house) odds on these bets. We have math experts for this.

The idea is to play smart and play within your limits, here.

Try to get the best bets that reduce the house odds against you.

Pass line w/free odds and the come line w/ free odds.

Rookies:
(Wait for the come out ) Place your bet on the pass line, wait for a "point" number,
get the point number B-4 a SEVEN.

That's IT!

Some trouble with the SWF file ,you may have to copy and paste, here.
It's OK.

I am waiting for the day for someone to set up a crap players LVA meet. I think it would be so cool to meet up with a bunch of craps guys, all buy in for $250 (or what-ever) and discuss strategies while we are playing.

Ive been learning the "iron cross" strategy on youtube. Might try it next time. Normally i just stick with the Pass line, odds, and placing 6,8

I'll bite - what is the iron cross strategy?

You basically place 6 and 8...and also play the field bet.

The idea is you get paid on everything except a 7. The only problem is the field bet dilutes your winnings from the 6,8.
I have always loved playing craps. I have been playing for 30 years and it is still fun and even feels "new" and exciting.

Close to 15 years ago I married a very smart woman who shares my love of Vegas but was not (and is still not) a craps player. Being uber smart it did not take her but a few minutes to understand the game and then start telling me the true odds and probabilities of play.

Since receiving this education I have changed my style of play from the purely superstitious "lets win big" bets to a slightly more conservative approach.

I now place a pass line bet and load up the free odds.
After the point I make place bets to fill up the inside (5,6,8,9).
I then yell and scream at the dice so that they will land the way I want them to.

I also did some experimentation at home. I made bets of varying amounts, but of the same style, all at the same time to see which amount was the most profitable over a somewhat long series of rolls.
I found that $25/$30 base bets was more profitable (percentage wise) than $5/$6 bets. it was also more conserving on the bad runs (again, percentage wise). $125/$150 bets were also slightly better than $5/$6 but not as good as $25/$30. I was baffled as to why. My wife gave me a very scientific yet long winded explanation as to why but I have forgotten (or was I even listening).

I also raise my bets when they hit but in a very conservative way. If my $30 place on a 6 or 8 hits I raise my bet $6 making it look like $36. I do this each time for each number individually. That is, I only raise the bet $6 each time ($5 for 5 and 9).
I seem to last much longer with this style, even on a fairly choppy table.
I am also looking for those good hot streaks. I can win a considerable amount if the 7 doesn't show for a while. My fervent wish is to be at the table when someone will earn the "golden arm" award of holding the dice for an hour or more. Every time I cross the pedestrian bridge between the California and MSS and see all those golden (and Platinum) arm plaques I am sure it is going to happen.
YES! I have had the golden arm, once or twice!
About 40 minutes and I'll guess 12 rolls. The table went nuking FUTZ!
You never know you will last that long....ever.
All of my 4's and 10's were popping!
10X odds at the MSS and I was increasing my bets gradually.
I probably pressed up a 5 or a 9 once or twice.
In an hour and a half, I paid off my $400 marker and walked out with $1,222 in chips(That I forgot to cash out)

I went from the do side to the don't side about 1/2 way into it and was REALLY betting on SEVENS!
$20 w/$80 lay bets!!!!! Then the lays went to $100.
Exciting as HELL!

I don't toss the dice a certain way, but I do hit the back wall.
I usually shout out "HANDS UP",B-4 I roll.
Seldom have I asked for "27 across".
Tip the dealers? You bet!

There is less house VIG if you just bet the come and see where it lands. You can ignore the outside numbers and slam the free odds on your 6 and 8 if it slides up there.
6 and 8 pays 6 to 5 on the odds.

Craps Tournament would be a wild idea.

It's the same as a roulette tournament.

Why? The numbers are not predictable.

This is suppose to be a skill game?

It's how you place your bets as to how much you win?

Go for 30:1 odds all at once? No.

Like so many games ,luck will win over skill.

BJ is a different game ,by far!

A tournament depends on how well you see the other players are doing.

That's the tough part.

Ask for a "count" every time the house will allow it.

Oh hell ,it would still be fun.

I'll take luck over skill, every time.

Skill is what you use to increase your odds of winning and LUCK has no comparison to that, in the short run.

Like I say... It would still be fun to test different ideas in how the winner "won".

I'm ..... IN!

Post your ideas..... HERE!

OK, who wants to BLAST the hard ways?
The midnight and snake eyes?
Who will go on the "dark side?"
I'll need a $500 buy in.

I'm curios as what your last strategy was.
I'll play like you do, but I like the outside numbers and play WAY more conservatively.

Need more excitement?

Increase your minimum bets- that will get your BP up a bit.
I was dissapointed at the Fremont for not allowing 10 X odds in April.
Toss a few chips out there and..."Sorry,Sir".

Hindsight is always 20-20.

Call bets?

Yeah, I've been NOT allowed to make those.
One time, very good and another time not so good.

The casino rules ... Are the rules.

"Do you want odds on the 6?"
(My comer).

"No thanks ,I'll wait on the point".
