This is too far

This crap has gone entirely too far. My little sister is a cop in a small to med town in W Va and her son, my nephew of 8yrs old is starting to catch crap from some schoolmates.Saying derogative things because she's a cop.WTH? If a generation of kids grow up with no respect for the law and those who enforce it, I think it doesn't bode well at all for the future of our country.

and then we have this story.. second graders??..and there parents didn't even know!? OMG and holy sh!t, I would go ballistic if I forund out a teacher did this with my kid.

Second Graders Spend Recess Protesting Ferguson. Are They Too Young?

'The 20-odd people chanting “Honk if you want justice,” on a New Bedford, Massachusetts sidewalk Dec. 12 got a lot of attention. They were second graders, rallying against police for the shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. While the rest of their class enjoyed 11:30 recess that morning, these 7 and 8-year-old protesters stood by the side of the road in front of the Alma Del Mar Charter School holding signs including one that read, “Please don’t shoot me, Ferguson.”

I think Charles Barkley nailed it when he said in support of the police-"“[W]e have to be really careful with the cops, because if it wasn’t for the cops we would be living in the Wild, Wild West in our neighborhoods,” he said. “We can’t pick out certain incidentals that don’t go our way and act like the cops are all bad…. Do you know how bad some of these neighborhoods would be if it wasn’t for the cops?”
I think it's pretty cool the kids are out exercising their right to peacefully assemble and protest. Charles had a lot of good things to say.
What about a genertion of kids growing to hate the Federal Government based on the enforcement of the law on a Nevada cattle ranch?

I dont agree with Ferguson protestors in so far as I think the Michael Brown shooting was likely justified. Plenty of other recent incidents of this kind do seem highly suspect. And racism in police departments accross the country is rampant....as is our incarceration of low level drug offenders. But regardless if I agree with people or not I cant think of any better way of confronting an issue than with peaceful demonstrations. Can you?

Little kids should not be pawns to do the work for their teacher. In matter of fact until they get into political science classes in high school, there should be no politics in class, including endorsing a presidential candidate or political party.

99% of the country have no idea what you are talking about, so your statement is without fact

I dont agree with Ferguson protestors in so far as I think the Michael Brown shooting was likely justified.

That's not what you have been saying

Plenty of other recent incidents of this kind do seem highly suspect. And racism in police departments accross the country is rampant..

Once again a statement without a basis in fact

..as is our incarceration of low level drug offenders.

What's the point?

But regardless id I agfree with people or not I cant think of any better way of confronting an issue than with peaceful demonstrations. Can you?

That's fair enough. And I dont condone schools engaging in protests as part of any required schedule. This is part of the price we pay when we start going towards a charter-school system instead of a standardized curriculum.

I don't like kids being taught the book of Genesis as part of their schooling...or pro-life talking points ...or abstinence only sex education. But if we are content to let each private school provide its own curriculum then this is something we'll have to learn to live with.
You should learn to use the quote button, Hoops. How many years have you been posting here and still cant figure that one out?
And when you do learn to use it be sure to quote anywhere on this board where I've said Michael Brown was innocent...or unjustly shot. Conversely, you can admit to making stuff up again.
Did you see the one of the cop who tased a 70 plus year old man twice? Cop had stopped the man for an expired inspection sticker, pulled him over at what looked like a convenience store or something. The man was trying to explain that the tags were dealer tags, the cop slammed him against the hood of the squad car. The cop then threw him to the ground and tased him once, then again when he tried to get up. The TV report said the cop "is on administrative leave pending investigation." It was all on camera, I guess from the cop's vehicle. The cop's face was of pure hate. I didn't catch where this happened.

Both were caucasian, BTW. Bad cop for sure. Bad.
Pj - do you even know what a charter school is?
