According to opensecrets, Republicans get more lobbyist dollars than Democrats. Although it doesn't amount to much - lobbyists typically help funnel funds from oil, agribusiness, big pharma, and so on. And from those industries, Republicans really rake in the money.

The next person who says both sides do it (equally) is a moron.

DonDiegos reference, opensecrets.org, shows over the last 25 years Democrats receiving hundreds of $millions in some years ; while the Republicans were lucky to top $50-million. Democrats received more from "Lawyers and Lobbyists" than Republicans every year.

In 2015-16 The Hillary received $12,075,134 from "Lawyers and Lobbyists".
The next nearest was John Ellis "Jeb" Bush who received $2,225,077.

Indeed, both sides do not do it equally.

Here's how I see it. Wipe out Oil and Gas lobbyists and there would be no more lobbyists. Problem solved.

Oh man, not only energy(nuke and oil/gas), there's AARP, big pharma, agriculture, foreign interests (Israel, Mid-east,etc.), and dozens more biggies on the hill, way too many to name my friend.

Thanks for asking.
This thread makes me smile.

A few weeks ago there was a thread addressing outrage regarding Democratic primary process. It ranged from Hoops2 prognosticating about what if Bernie wins the popular vote, but Clinton wins the nomination, and that Republican Superdelegates are obligated to vote based on their state's vote, and hypotheticals about what if Bernie gets "scammed" out of the nomination, without the same discussion of the Republican process. Even though it was clear back then that shenanigans were far likely to happy on the R side of the election.

since the election cycle is not over lets look at the last one:

Again, how many dollars paid to Hillary arrives on this chart? Very little, I suspect. I doubt that these $200 million that the Clintons were paid were because of Hillary's value as a speaker. She was being bought off for future expected favors. Many other politicians lots of dollars, yet I suspect that Hillary is getting the biggest dollars because she's the most corrupt. I can't confirm the accuracy, but I've read that she's racked up $50 million in private flights charged to the "Clinton Foundation".

She must be a very valuable speaker.
Boiler you make the most compelling arguments on the board.

"I suspect ... I doubt ... I suspect ... I can't confirm the accuracy" and a whole bunch of non-attributed speculation all in one paragraph. Impressive!

Just ask him about the secret indictments
The Clintons have been paid $200 million to talk, and they're not worth it..............unless giving political favors. Please let us know why Mushy thinks that a big bank values Hillary at $750,000 for an hour talk. What great knowledge does she possess?

Only a Liberal makes such a silly argument. I'll expect insults.

Billy, why is the Justice Department offering favors for those who give up the dirt on Hillary? I'll expect a dance.
