Those In Room Refrigerators

Just 36 days away from our trip my daughter decided to break her elbow. She'll be in a cast for our trip. Do you think I might be able to score a fridge in our room for free so I can keep her ice packs frozen? We're staying at GVR. I know I can just put ice in a ziploc bag but I really like the reusable gel packs because they bend nicely and don't get everything wet.

Also, that means all the rides and pool stuff is out. What am I going to do with her for a week? I'll for sure take her for a mani-pedi. Any other ideas?

How old and how mobile is she?

No prob...just ask, for medical needs.

She's 14 and besides the broken elbow, she is quite active. She is at dance class about 15 hours per week. We're going for a dance competition so a lot of our time will be spent watching her team and hopefully her dancing. It's the off time that I'm worried about. Our room is at the Flamingo the first two nights and our friends will be at Mandalay Bay before we all move to GVR and she was really looking forward to some time at a nice pool.

Waterproof cast sleeves can work very well. If her doctor approves, I'd look into them. And if that works, you might not have to dig up other stuff to do.

There will probably be a rock concert on Fremont on any weekend you're there. It's mostly hard rock this year, and probably a few years ahead of her time, but she could sample the acts on YouTube and see if she's interested.

Although she can't go on any rides, going to the top of the Strat can be fun. And depending on her outlook - and yours - the Bodies exhibit might work. It's very classy, and I think unforgettable, and as an added bonus, she'll be able to see exactly what she broke.

Kids love magic shows.

If your room doesn't come with one you can normally ask for one upon check-in that they will deliver. Sometimes it is free, other places it has been about $15 extra.

Tell them you have to keep your insulin cold. You could also use your bar refridge if they have one.

Vegas has something for everyone. Entertainment and ice packs.
