Thunderstorm

Wow! Was just reading on Vegas Chatter regarding last night's thunderstorm in Vegas. Must have been a doozy.
Yea, I see on the news section that Vegas got all of .22 inches, Yes Point 22 inches. I guess that is a lot for them, being a desert.
On June 28th here in Upstate NY, we got five, Yes 5 inches in 90 minutes. Many creeks over flowed and the street in front of my house was a river. Here are a couple pics of my driveway and back yard.

I also had 32 yes, 32 inches in my cellar, submerging my furnace & hot water heater, missing my electrical panel by about 5 inches. My cellar area is about 2,200 sq feet, so there was a lot of water to get rid of.

Some areas got close to .5". It doesn't take much to cause flooding in the streets, because there is nowhere for the water to go. So lots of streets were flooded, including part of the Strip. There was water inside Caesars' casino. And a roof leak at Gilley's in TI caused water to pour into the club. 70 mph winds knocked down trees and power lines in various parts of town. Some casinos went dark, as well.
waheckelny wow sorry for you what a mess. It is amazing to me the .22 and flooding in LV, here in FL we also get several inches in a few hours, my pool overflows but no major flooding

Anyone hear if the Rizzo clan is high and dry?
It seems to have been quite the Storm.

Even the subterranean inhabitants of Las vegas emerged to survey the damage:

Its good for Vegas to have these kinds of storms once in awhile. It flushes all of the discarded escort ads into the storm sewers.
I remember reading once that due to the lack of rain, motor oil builds up on the streets & when it finally rains the streets get very slippery

Good one PJ

Waheckelny- What a lousy mess you have to deal with....Hope you're coping ok.

As to the streets turning slick after a heavy rain, absolutely true, and damned dangerous.
