Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos

DonDiego is beginning to, . . . well at least consider believing.

As the end of the regulation 60-minute game approached, the opposing kicker was struck by incontinence. This was captured and broadcast on national TV. A divine affliction? God is rumored to employ such techniques.

In overtime the afflicted kicker missed a game-winning field goal, thereby giving the Tebow-led Broncos advantageous field position, . . . leading to the Broncos game-winning field goal.

Tebow is 5-1 and has changed the entire course of the season for the Broncos. Before Tebow was starting many were including the Broncos in the Andrew Luck conversations. Tebow has the Broncos in competition for the division. The defense has played awesome and their running backs have ran well. What really isn't mentioned enough is that Tebow doesn't turn the ball over. That is a big deal and likely his greatest contribution to the winning streak. He may inspire the team also but playing turnover free ala Trent Dilfer with the Ravens can go a long way.

What other QB in the NFL has impacted the win/loss record for their team this season? Peyton Manning of course, Caleb Hanie may be leading the Bears back out of the playoffs.

The "long term" doesn't matter for any team if they can slip into the playoffs this year. The Broncos likely will go in another direction next season but that doesn't matter right now.

You've got a dog-kicking Michael Vick at one end of the spectrum. You've got a cast member from Broadway's "The Book of Morman" at the other end.

I'm not sure which one makes me more nauseous.
Anyone remember the old Playoff Bowl? It was the game for third place in the NFL, pre Super Bowl.
In 1966, Baltimore lost both Johnny Unitas and his backup and ended up with running back Tom Matte playing the QB slot. The Colts unconventional offense took them all the way to the Playoff Bowl title, but the next year, Matte was back at running back.

Edited to reflect the true nature of the Playoff Bowl

PJ- For me Vick , the dog KILLER, make me much more nauseous.
Remember when the wildcat was all the rage? Until defensive coordinators found a way to defense it. Same thing will happen with Tebow's Broncos. It's only a matter of time ...

Other NFL teams will watch how the Pats defend what??? They have the WORST defense in the league.

I could care less about his region, but if he wants to be a long term QB in the NFL he is going to have to improve his passing drastically. Don’t forget he played last year, all he had to do was make a decent showing in training camp and he would have been the starter at the start of the season. He did so poorly he was named 3rd string. That tells me he doesn’t really have the ability/talent to improve his passing game that much or he already would have.

Speaking of Vick you see what happened when he was named the starter this season. Teams they played were prepared for his unique style of play. Tebow may be the better person but, Vick has 10 times the athletic ability Tebow has.

I think it likely that either Tebow will be injured to the point of losing much of his effectiveness as a runner, and will be left with his just adequate skills at quarterback, or other NFL teams will watch how the Pats defend against him and copy it week after week. Either way, he will not be effective "in the long run" literally.

Bard nailed it. Tebow either panics in the pocket or doesn't trust his linesmen for pass-protection and Tebow takes-off running. Tebow's stats for running with the ball himself against the Chargers was 20 something times in that one game. He might as well be a running back with stats like that. In the long run the chances of him getting hurt might be quite high. On a related note Tebow's win against the Chargers put me in the money for the Chargers remaining under 10 wins for the season (+180), yee-doggy.
