Tipping Movers

Our daughter and son-in-law will be moving in a few weeks. The distance will be about 25 miles.
They have hired a professional to move only the big furniture - taking lots of little things in a
rental U-Haul (china, mirrors, etc.). They are moving from a townhouse to a larger home.
Question - is a "tip" necessary after paying the required amount of money for the move?
Yes it is at least 20 per man more if stairs are involved
I have tipped 20-30 per man in the past. The last time I moved one of the guys that showed up was so ridiculously out of shape that it took all day to move my 2 bedroom apt. to my new house 4 miles away. and therefore cost me a lot of money. This guy had to stop and catch his breath for 5 minutes every time he went up the stairs. I felt bad for the other guy, but I did not tip.
$20 each seems to be the standard (and it's worth EVERY penny).

The distance does not enter into the equation. The hard part is loading and unloading the truck.
My nephew worked as a mover for several years. Tips were a large part of his income and pretty much expected.
As always, it's not mandatory to tip.

If they deliver good service then a tip to a
mover is OK.

If they deliver bad service then no tip. LOL

I have experienced both and done both.

This includes delivery of items from purchases
of furniture and everything else under the sun.
I agree with jjjj21. I don't think a tip should ever be expected. I tip and I tip often, but I also base it on how good the service was.
Well, duh. If the movers drop your stuff and scratch your walls then no tip. If they are polite, professional and do a good job you tip them. There are lots of things movers can do that are not in the contract...
I've never tipped a mover. In fact, I've never paid one either, and I've been to 4 states and 2 countries.
