Today's QOD-Coins

Man your bank sucks. When I had my account at US Bank, they had a counting machine you could use, free of charge, as long as you had an account with them. I has saved up about $400 in quarters for my "mad money" for a Vegas trip one year. Spent it on some things that I normally wouldn't have done there.

I do think the reason they don't like the rolled coins though people under cut the roll by one or two coins or they put slugs inside.

CoinStar is a huge ripoff (but I wish I'd thought of it).

When I bring rolled coins to the bank I have to write my account number on each roll.
No big deal for me.
They do have a coin machine for a % fee, so I roll all my coins,
...... no big deal for me to roll coins, as I usually do it while watching an NFL Football game.

The local druggies a very fond of the coin counting machine at my local bank branch. The last two times I was at the bank, there were druggies cashing in coins. Both times they were twitchy women that made a scene about the functioning of the coin counting machine. They were in a rush.

We have a little coin bank at home that counts your change for you so we knew we had about $300 in change. When we used the machine, it said ~$260. We asked the bank management to look into the discrepancy. They opened the machine and found about $40 in coins sitting in the bottom of the machine that didn't get counted. They acted like it's a common occurrence so be careful with those machines.
Somebody needs to look for a new bank or at least a new branch office.
My local bank branch doesn't have a counting machine but they are more than happy to even give me the coin rollers. I have a jar that I toss all the coins in and when it gets fairly full, I roll the coins and take them to the bank. When I turn them in I ask them to give me a bunch of new rollers. There has never been a problem. The only thing they have requested from me is that I not use the "pneumatic" tube system because the weight of a bunch of coins could cause a tube to get stuck.
