Most voter id laws have been upheld.
And several have been overturned, and several Republican judges have voted to overturn them. My point was that my argument is pretty mainstream, and to say that someone who argues against the laws is somehow sick is pretty shameful

Like I've said, honorable people can disagree on this. On the other hand there's CowboyKell.

Unbelievable. Twice in one day Forkie says something completely asinine. Forky, the king of insulting people on here talks about honorable posting. Seriously, how could you ever post such a hypocritical thing?

I'll be specific.

I pointed out the obvious; with ID laws a non-driver has an additional burden to vote (two hours, two miles, and two hours as an example). And I argued that it was an unfair burden because it favored one politcal demographic over another. And people who put up with DMV offices are no more deserving of the vote than people who put up with busses and trains and subways and walking.

Cowboy Kell responded by guessing that I was suffering from some kind of medical mental incapacity.

I happen to think that honorable people can disagree on this issue. At least on this thread I'm not too sure Cowboy qualifies.

I've been in many cities and ridden a lot of public transportation and I've never been anyplace that it takes two hours to get anywhere. Here in DC I can hop on west falls metro and be anywhere in the city in less than an hour but that's really beside the point. I've said it before, this argument has been brewing for how many years now? And the (very few it might take more than an hour) can't get off their butts to get an ID by now?

Both parties have bent over backwards to ensure if someone doesn't have an ID, they will be helped in getting one. The Dems. in particular and especially inner-city people.

I know for damn certain voters poured out of the woodwork to vote for Obama.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's anyone left that hasn't obtained an ID after the '08 election. If they weren't going to vote then, I'd say they sure as hell aren't coming out now.
I'm still waiting for ONE legitimate excuse. A two hour, two dollar bus ride is laughable as an excuse.

It's not an excuse, it's human nature. Human beings are less likely to do something if it costs time or money.

So when it comes to voting rights, advantage to those who don't have to.
Let me see if I can find a bigger shovel for Forky.
Forkie knows that Democrat voters are far more lazy than their Republican counterparts. This explains why he's demanding that the government dumb down, or in this case, lazy proof the voter registration program.

Just one legitimate reason why someone cant get an ID? Just one? oh, ok.

Mad MOney host, Jim Cramer, famously explained how his father could not vote due to Pennsylvania's voter ID law. His father was a vet...but did not have an ID because he was old and did not drive....and lost his birth certificate.

After telling his father's story on national television the governor of PA rushed over and registered Cramer's dad in person. I bet he did the same thing for everyone else without an ID too - especially ones without their own tv show. Yeah.

Now, by all means, please go ahead and move the goal posts...

Riddle me this one then, during the last Pres. election, the avg. time at our voting station( yea, predominantly white mid to upper class) was about 4 hrs. The avg time at most stations in DC? Less than an hour.

AGAIN, if they are adverse to a bus ride, and there's no way in hell any polling station is two hours away from anyone, then they don't really give a shit about voting to begin with. Except if it's a black man, then they'll walk twenty miles and pay 100 bucks to vote, correct?

Wait a minute, I thought we were talking about picture ID's, not time to get to a polling station. Which is it Forky?

Your individual data point is an outlier. Here's the proof:

According to a joint MIT/CalTech study, nationwide in 2012 blacks waited in line twice as long as whites. Just like they did in 2008. So much for them being lazy about voting, huh?
