Total Rewards comp room question

If while making a reservation I put in another persons total rewards number as a companion to get a better rate or a comped room (even though this person wouldn't be coming) would they catch this?

I believe the "companion" must be present at check-in.

My wife and I have checked in to many CET reservations this way and they don't always ask. I'd say we've been asked less than half the time. I recommend playing it safe though to avoid the embarrassment and loss of your comp or lower rates.

I have travelled with a companion many times and the checkin clerk has never asked for her to show up.

If they ask, the worst thing to happen is you get the higher rate; the same rate you'd get by playing it safe. There is no embarrassment if the clerk asks, just tell them that your companion didn't make the trip. I don't think the casino will impose some sort of full price penalty to you.

I would just say they couldn't make the trip or they had to change their flight do to some unforseen circumstances. Just be nice and respectful and I think it will work out.

They just did this to my wife and I in May. We checked in at the Flamingo in the Diamond check in. They asked for my companion's ID. and said they were clamping down on it. I asked what would happen if she had not been there, and the lady said they would charge according to my status only. Which still would have been comped, but I was curious.
