Its been a few trips since I've done a TR. Although this wasn't a winning trip, it was probably the funnest trip to LV that I have made. I hadn't planned on even making another trip this year, but won a free trip for 2 at our local MMA fighting after parties. I won $1800 in visa gift cards to put towards airfare (tickets were $1100 for two) 2 tickets to UFC 160 and 2 nights at Luxor (passed on staying there). The new gf and I used the extra $700 doing some shopping for new duds and misc stuff before the trip.
After paying to stay at GN a night or 2 the last few trips, I finally started getting good offers from them. I took them up on the 3 nights in a Rush Tower room plus comped entry into the Pawn Stars slot tournamant. I did 65 in the tourney and won an autographed $200 gift cert. for the pawn shop that I'll probably just hang onto rather than stand in line for hours to use it. For 3 days we did alot of lounging and drinking amazing Mojitos by the pool and drinking even more on Freemont jamming to the bands at night. Played alot of $1 WOF up and down. One night the gf crashed early (4am lol) and I played a little $1 DDB. I couldn't find a waitress to save my life and finally had a floor person track one down for me. This saved me. I immediately hit 4 2's for $400 than 4 Aces without kicker for $800. She brought me many beers and was tipped well since she brought me booze and luck. I played down a little and decided to call it quits as I was out of smokes. Anyone not familiar with GN, their pay tables vary depending on where the machine is located. I was on my way up to the room and saw a slant top and checked the tables on it and decided to go grab a pack of smokes from the gift shop and drop a bill in it. BAM! 3 hands in 4 4's for $400. I just couldnt get a kicker for nothing. Im up a grand for the day so I decide to hit the ligh limit $5 WOF and burn through $500 without even a spin. Bedtime for me.This was the longest that I have stayed DT and had way more fun than on the strip. Funny thing is, we never made it to the UFC as I was told it started at 7 and when we were heading up to get ready to head to MGM we saw a bunch of posts on FB by friends of ours about the outcomes of half the matches already. OOPS. On top of the original comps, I was able to get an additional $50 taken off of our pool bar tab, and now have a host at GN. Had a nice dinner at Flame using MR coupon. We ate alot and had a bottle of wine for about $70. Couldn't beat it.
Next stay was 4 nights at MGM.(3 comped, 1 paid). I always forget how freaking huge the place is. The gf and I actually got hooked on a Batman penny machine. We played it alot. Like alot alot. Never really got up too high but played for hours and put a ton of points on my card. We never really hit anything too huge on anything. I hit a couple 4OAK playing quarter bartop VP.
We saw Fleetwood Mac at the MGM. Amazing? Fabulous? Fantastic? All of the above? Yeah. They still rock it. Check one off the bucket list.
We did a strip run (walk) one night and saw all the free spectacles and hit up Cravings for dinner. I spaced that it was Memorial day and my MR coupon wasn't valid. I wish I'd have had dinner at Bellagio buffet for full price there. Food was good though. My prime rib was actually better than at Flame DT.
Having never been to the Palms, I booked us a cheap night as the gf has always had a dress up and go to a really fancy dinner fantasy. She had spent 2 months looking for the "perfect dress" for that evening and oddly enough found one for a freaking DOLLAR! At Sears. I was amazed at how good she looked in it compared to the 100-200 dresses she had tried on elsewhere. The joke of the night was I was wearing an $800 suit and she had about $20 worth of clothes on. We had the most amazing dinner at N9Ne steakhouse at Palms. The atmosphere and waiter we amazing and the food was even better. I had the 35 day aged ribeye and she had a fillet that was like butter. Best steaks I've had. Dinner and 2 bottles of wine $375 plus an $80 tip. Totally worth it once in a great while. I don't do dinners like that very often but the gf was extremely pleased and it paid off later that night for sure lol. I played a little $1 DDB and hit 4 5's and decided I just didnt want to gamble anymore that night. I ended up down $300 at palms and was awarded $120 in FSP since I was a new club member. Finally a slot club promo that is easy to understand. The room was ok. Nothing special except for the purple and pinks in the room that the gf liked. It was just a little vacation away from our vacation so to speak. I did have a hard time using the MR %50 comp. coupon on the room as they said I already booked the room on sale. I gave up arguing over $30 and just left, back to MGM.
Last night we finally made it over to Excalibur (where I normally stay) and say the progressive on the slant tops was up to a whopping $7000 and change. I've never seen it this high and have never hit a royal before. After running through $300 I still have yet to hit a royal. Somebody will be a happy camper to hit that sucker.
Pretty much to sum it all up, I played alot, had some good wins, lost alot. My liver hates me. My gf loves me. I got drunk alot, laid alot, ate alot, and saw one of my favorite bands not only live, but still ALIVE! And now have hosts courting me at GN and MGM. I recieved an email from a host at MGM the morning after we had left. I wish I'd have thought to have the paid night taken off my bill but hindsight......
