Trip in 2011

After some bad luck at the end of 2010, Mr B and I are looking to maybe take 10 days to Vegas next year.
Would you
1. spend it all on the strip and just travel to FSE?
2. Split it between old and new Vegas?

3 . we need a place with a safe, so any ideas?

Stay 1 night in Cosmo, Bellago, or where? We cannot affod 200+ a night, so that is out.

We love the monorail.

Shows, I have been trying to find Jeff dunham(sp)

I love Phantom, Bite and BMG. What about Love?

How early did you all plan ahead?

Thanks
I would spend it all downtown if you are low on funds. That way if you do want to go to the strip you can take the Gold bus that picks you by the Golden Nugget. It only stops at certain locations on the strip but you can get there fast.
If there is no safe in the room, they will have safe deposit boxes available to their guests. If you are worried about something too large to fit into a safe deposit box, perhaps a laptop, use a cable lock for it in the room. I did not bother to lock down my computer during my 50+ days in 2009. I do have security built in to not boot without password, and encrypted my files with a different password, but that was the extent of my computer security. Using a safe deposit box at the hotel front desk or casino cage was not that much of a hassle.

Downtown room rates will be less than the strip, and although many/most of the rooms may be worn, and perhaps smaller, they are still just hotel rooms. How much time do you plan on spending in your hotel room while on vacation in Las Vegas? If you're going to spend a lot of time in your room, I do not suggest the Golden Gate. That was the smallest hotel room ever, yet furnished with a big flat screen TV and comfortable beds.

I used to start "planning" the day after my trips ended.

But in 2010 and this year, the coupons just do not motivate me enough to plan a visit at this time.

OK, considering you are going for a long trip...Money is main concern.

I would stay a couple nights downtown (GN)..then move to strip.

Suggest Tropicana.

1. recently remodelled - the whole place including rooms (check out web site)
2. very decent room rates
3. across street from MGM and monorail access.

Check out car rentals - they may be cheap for a whole week.

Shows:
I would check out Jersey Boys (best in vegas).
