Trip Itinerary 5 Nights Semi-Solo Late October 2016

Trip Itinerary Las Vegas 5 Nights Semi-Solo Late October 2016
T-2 days and counting:

This will be my first trip to Vegas this year. Unlike the more upscale trip last October with my wife, this one will be semi-solo and low budget. Part of the trip will include meeting up with my brother and cousin. I’ll be leaving this Thursday morning from Boston via JetBlue direct for six-days.

Have three auto rental reservations made including Dollar Express (the highest rate of $220) as a backup in case lines are long elsewhere. The least expensive reservation and the one I hope to use is at Alamo (at the weekly rate of $155 all in through https://www.carrentalsavers.com/ ). After getting the rental car, I’ll probably do lunch at Silver Sevens Café or Ellis Island (at which I have 50% off coupons from American Casino Guide (ACG) 2016 and then will check-in to Circus Circus (CC) for the first 3 nights. I got a 100% free comp offer (that I couldn’t refuse) for a room in the alleged newly-renovated Casino Tower for three free nights including two normally more expensive weekend nights. Resort fees will be comped as well, so my total cost for the three nights starting Thursday and checking out Sunday AM will be $0. I’m not planning on eating at the CC Buffet, but will possibly eat at the CC Steakhouse one night using CC comp points.

The next two nights will be at GVR at the “gambler’s” reduced rate of $60 a night plus half the $30 resort fee so instead of paying $100 + $30 or $130 per night, I’ll be paying $60 + $15 or $75 per night .

Entertainment

For entertainment, I’m also planning to go low budget and see Michael Grimm at Sunset Station Friday night for the $10 admission at the door and then see what tix4tonight has to offer the other nights and/or grab a last minute Stubhub ticket for Phish on Monday night at MGM arena. During the afternoons might check out the Pinball Hall of Fame, the Linq Auto Collection (free admission coupon), and/or check out the Neon Museum or the Bellagio conservatory. I might splurge and shoot some machine guns at Battlefield Vegas or drive a Z06 Corvette (0-60 in 3.00 seconds) at SpeedVegas using a Groupon

Gambling

As usual, I have matchplays and freeplays (MPs and FPs) from ACG, LVA MRB, and other sources. My near strip coupon run will consist of Orleans, Palms, Gold Coast, Westgate, Ellis Island, and Hooters and a $45 for $30 Wincard deal at Circus Circus. I’ll also do a downtown MP/FP coupon run including ElCo, The D, DT Grand, 4 Queens, Binion’s, Golden Gate, and the Plaza.

Besides coupon runs, I plan to spend significant time playing 50c Aces and Eights video poker (VP) progressives that potentially pay 100.25%+ (at long run perfect play) at Circus Circus. The + is for the added progressive returns. I also plan to play $0.50 FPDW VP at the Skyline and $0.25 Loose Deuces Wild VP at GVR and Westgate as well as $0.25 Pick-A-Pair aka Pick’Em VP at the Fremont.

Food

Will possibly use ACG/LVA MRB 50% off buffet coupons at GVR; $10 off GVR Grand Café coupons; 50% off Silver Sevens Café; ACG Ellis Island 50% off; and a $10 off Maggiano’s coupon received via email. I also hope to use CC Player’s Club points at the CC Steakhouse. But none of this is written in stone.

Will send a trip report upon return.

I used to plan my trips the same way before moving here. I think you get the most bang for your buck when you have a plan. Enjoy your trip!!
I look forward to your trip teport.
It's the heart of football season. I'd include betting and watching football games.

yep. even if u r not a huge NFL fan, just betting $10 or $20 on a few games can be fun.

The Michael Grimm show is first-rate and only $5 with a players card. Club Madrid is a small room and there are no bad seats but some people line up before 7 PM to get the best ones. If you can't sit near the center choose stage left (to the right as you walk in) because then you can see the entire band including the horn section. Afterward for no additional charge you can stick around for the very good 80's cover band Yellow Brick Road, or go right outside to the bar for Ryan Whyte Maloney.

I'd be shocked if Skyline has $0.50 FPDW, but I would be loved to be proven wrong in your trip report. Their $0.25 machines are slow and coin-droppers, and I'd prefer one of the three machines located in non-smoking at Sunset. I like Skyline for their okay $1.49 shrimp cocktails.

SAY,DUDE!
What happened to you last week? E.R,?

Couldn't sleep,got a bad-ass bug?All that I got was a medium-sized cold.
The last time that I saw you was at the DTG at black jack.
4 days later,I still have it.

You OK?

straub66,that is a HUGE schedule!
I can never do all of the things that I planned to do....EVER.
Too busy gamblin' or drinkin'.
I wanted to do the Pinball Hall Of Fame for the last 3 years, but I don't rent cars.
Maybe the bus.
IMO,you can bypass the Neon Museum. Not the Mob Museum downtown.

Coupon runs are great fun!
Be a bargain hunter.
Burn up the AGC book,totally!

Machine Guns at The Gun Store is recommended. A lot more bang for your buck than a ZO6.
Can you smell the Cordite?
My buddy did the V.I.P. thing there and it took all day.

Ever shoot a 50 caliber Barrett? I shot a video of it and nearly dropped my phone when it went off.
Correct for windage for a 1,000 yard shot. Take your brother.
You may bring your own ear plugs,if you wish.

Thanks for the tips on the player's card discount and getting there early and on the best seating.

I've been playing at Skyline for the last three years. Technically you are right: they don't have $0.50 FPDW, but they do have $0.25 x 10 coin per hand (instead of 5 coin per hand) which is the same bet amount per hand as $0.50 x 5 coin ($2.50 per hand). So the game is not typical $0.25 FPDW and is essentially the equivalent of/same as $0.50 FPDW.

I agree they are ancient/awkward coin droppers but they aren't really too slow except if/when you cash out especially if it requires a hopper fill in the middle of cashing out. Also its best to go there early on a weekday morning when they aren't busy so the smoke won't be overwhelming.

Again appreciate all the info about Sunset Station. I've been to all the the other Fertitta/Station casinos including GVR, RR, and Palace, Texas, Santa Fe Stations as well as both Fiestas but never had the occasion to go inside of Sunset. In fact I think it's the only casino in the Vegas/Henderson area I've never been inside. Before playing at the Skyline I used to play $0.25 x 10 coin FPDW at The Rainbow Club Casino in DT Henderson - but they finally got rid of their last two 10 coin FPDW machines about two years ago. Too bad I loved that place and they had TITO machines.

Thanks again.
