Trip Report: Caesars Palace Las Vegas w/ COSMO the DOG!

If you are not a dog lover, this thread may not be for you...

You got it! This past weekend, I went to Las Vegas with my sweet lovable boy Cosmo! A very loving adopted from a shelter Poodle Lhasa Apso mix.

When we arrived to Caesars I carried him to the check in. Staff was very welcoming and warm as usual and gave me about 5 or 6 pages of paper work to fill out for Cosmo. Standard liability stuff, saying you wont take your loved pet to the gaming area's or in restaurants. Then I asked if he could walk inside or if I need to carry him all the time and as long as he is on a leash he could stay by my side. They do ask on the documents that you keep your dog from being loud and causing a disturbance.

They pointed me to the "Dog Walk" area and we went up to the room to put our stuff down and went to check it out. (More on the "Dog Walk" area later).

Once we got out of the elevator (on the 23rd floor in the Augustus Tower) I noticed a "Dog Friendly Floor" sign. This was very nice to see! I think Cosmo knew as well and was very happy! When we got into the room it looked like any other room in the AT. I did not notice any dishes or anything like described on the website so called house keeping. They said after a pet owner checks in they bring in the goodies!

A few minutes later, after a knock on the door and Cosmo asking who is it, we received a bag of goodies for Cosmo to use and enjoy.

The room was really clean. Although it was a smoking room. I think all the rooms on this floor are Smoking, and probably because if there was a pet odor, the smoke would cover it up to other guests? I did not have any pet odors or any signs of a pet staying in my room. In fact, once I visited my fathers room I noticed how much softer and cleaner my carpet seamed. We found out later that the Pet Friendly rooms, once a pet stays in them, the carpets are all steam cleaned. This is great!

What you get as a doggie guest:

Food and water dishes: I actually use these at home and they are great. They looked brand new! I actually did not use them (I brought my own) but I was un-sure if I was supposed to leave them or take them with me home as a parting gift? I left them in the room. I did not use them because since they were new (still with the paper tag inside) I did not want to take the time to clean them out with Caesars hand soap. But I appreciated them having them available!

A Bath Mat: This is one of those rubber bottomed bath mats. I assume they expect this to be used as a laying place? Needless to say, I did not use it, left it in the corner. I would have left it on the floor for Cosmo to eat off of but the bottom had what was obviously an old piddle stain on the bottom.

Doggie Treats!: A BIG BAG of Blue Bars doggie treats. Apple and Yogurt. Cosmo enjoy's them and is still enjoying them at home. This was a very nice touch. Cosmo eats mainly Grain Free foods, but for treats, I can deal with some. (they are not grain free).

Poopie Bags: This is awesome! A little duffel bag pouch with poopie bags in it. I have one of these attached to his leash, so now I have an extra one. Very convenient for walks in Las Vegas if you do not have one.

The "Dog Walk" area:

Walking Cosmo down to the dog walk area and back into the hotel got a lot of attention. A few times we were stopped by other dog lovers asking how he is there. I explained that Caesars is now pet friendly and they have a dog walk area etc. They said they cant wait to bring their doggie there next time!

The "Dog Walk" area is located on the Flamingo Blvd side of Caesars where the VIP Limo entrance is as well as the Diamond Lounge. Simple walk out those doors and its to the left. It is a small area gated in with a Doggie Port with Poopie Bags and a Poopie trash bin.

The gated area is all Artificial Grass. Cosmo was good about walking into it and piddling just past the entry way, and then walking rite out. He did not have much interest in going to far in there at first. On the morning before we departed, he seemed a little more comfortable going further in and poopies, although, I was not to excited about walking in there to pick it up!

The Artificial Grass does have draining holes in it so piddle will drain into the ground, but poopies will stick if soft. During the 3 days / 2 nights I was there, I did not notice any poopie residue stains disappearing. If they could blast it down with water it would help keep it a little cleaner I think? Don't get me wrong, it was a neat area, but with artificial grass, poopie residue could stay unless water will rinse it away.

Since this dog walk area was kind of small and I wanted to give Cosmo some exercise, we took a walk along Flamingo Blvd towards the bridge and found a large dirt area where he tended to do his poopie business. There was more room so he was more comfortable. So I suggest at least twice a day walking your dog to this area so they could get some extra exercise and space. The downside to this, is its dusty dirt, so your doggies paws / fur on legs will get dirty. Wet Wipes will help with this after your walk.

Overall my stay at Caesars with Cosmo was great! Cosmo stayed in the room with my girlfriend when I went down to play. While signing the papers I did not notice something stating that you must be in the room with your pet at all times. I could have missed it, but honestly was not looking for it because we hate leaving him home alone, especially in a new place.

We saw 2 other dogs during our visit.

I do have a couple of suggestions to Caesars for their Doggie Guests comfort.

Wee Wee Pads! I brought my own with me, but having Wee Wee pads available would be a nice touch. They are scented so if the doggie is going to have an in room piddle, they will go on these. I am sure most of you dog owners have and use Wee Wee pads, but Caesars should definitely make a few of them available in the doggie pack.

This isn't as important, but it is vacation and if I was able to order Cosmo some Boiled Chicken and Rice to go along with our room service I am sure he would have loved that! Since staying in Caesars with Cosmo, 100% of our meals were Room Service. $600 plus in room service for the weekend!!

So if you are planning on visiting Caesars with your pet, it will be a very nice trip and I am looking forward to the next one. I give the pet stay experience an A.

THANK YOU for making this available to us!

Cute dog and nice report
Interesting TR. Its nice to see casinos allow guests to bring their dogs.

I would also post your TR on trip advisor.

Seriously?

thanks for posting, i love dogs and i loved reading this report.

Thank you.

I forgot to mention, for anyone to come into your room you must be there with your pet. And for house keeping you could make an appointment. They knocked on my door but didn't let them in. we didn't have housekeeping the whole trip.
Thanks for sharing. I was wondering how really pet-friendly Caesar's would be. Glad to hear you and Cosmo had a good experience.
This is wonderful and thank you for sharing. I used to have a white llaso mix that looked a lot like Cosmo.
Now I know Vegas has " gone to the dogs."
That's great! Love the pup!
