trip report, wynn and monte carlo 10/19 10/22

My husband and I were in vegas the end of Sept but that is another trip report. I entered a contest for a trip to vegas at the end of last year. Lo and behold, I won second prize which was 2 nights comped at Wynn!! We usually have a spring trip and a fall trip but my husband's back went out in March and he was treating it into May, so no spring trip. When I announced that I had won 2 free nights a Wynn, he was not happy about staying there. Too fancy for him, too far down the strip from where he likes to be, Can't get comped drinks at the bar when playing video poker, (his favorite pastime in Vegas). Since another couple was going with us in Sept and the Wynn was not in their price range, I shelved the idea of using the contest comp. When we returned I informed him that I was going with a girlfriend who was more than happy to share the room at Wynn. I booked our rooms and reiterated that they were comped. When we arrived, the front desk also mentioned that we were comped for 2 nights. I also booked one night at Monte Carlo which was also free through MYVegas. The Wynn rooms were excellent, immaculate and very luxurious with floor to ceiling windows and drapes and lights that were remote controlled. Bathroom had a TV embedded in the wall. Machines were tight with no winnings on anything. We walked down to Slots a fun since I had not been in that area in about 5 years. Within 30 -45 minutes I hit four 40K,s for over 400.00! We visited circus circus and Riviera which was pretty crowded and not as bad as I had heard. Played a little 3 card poker there and only lost a little of my buy-in. Next day we headed down to NYNY since we were seeing Zumanity there via MYVegas. After a nice breakfast at MonAmiGabi, we stayed and played at NYNY the rest of the day. Could do nothing with video poker but played some blackjack and came out ahead. Next day checked out at Wynn through the tv and was stunned to see that my bill was 468.00 for 2 nights!!!! A quick call to the front desk corrected the problem and my heartbeat returned to normal. Checked into Monte Carlo and was told that the room was comped but we would have to pay the resort fee $22.50. No problem. We cabbed down to Belliago for the buffet, compliments of MYVegas. It was good but better if you are a seafood lover, especially crab legs as I saw plates piled high with crab legs and everyone but us were eating them. Back to Monte Carlo where I found a blackjack table with a fun group and great dealers who made everybody laugh. I think I played for at least 4 hours with the same group of people. We had a blast. Ended up winning there too and at check out they removed the resort fee. Fun trip.. Can't wait to go back.
Nice report. I also love ending up with a bunch of strangers at a gambling table who instantly have fun?
Enjoyed the report very much. Congrats on your VP hits at Slots a Fun.
It sure seems like VP is tight all over Vegas.

Edited to say that VP is tight all over the Strip.
I can't speak for all of Vegas!
We are mostly video poker players, but over the last 5 -7 years have found it increasing hard to hit the 40K's much less the royal. Years ago, it seems like we hit many 40K's each trip and not so much now. Had to split off onto some table games just to hold on to the bankroll a little. Hitting four 40k"s in a half hour at Slots o Fun was like the old days.

Nice Trip Report.
You did a lot for a short stay.

Thanks for taking the time to write and share.

Rick
We cabbed down to Belliago for the buffet. Really they have a FREE monorail from Monte Carlo to Belliago!
That was a head slapper! I knew that but during the running here and there and changing hotels, etc, I completely forgot about the tram until I got home.
my wife plays that myvegas every night. She doesn't win enough for free rooms or free buffets. What is the secret?
So,your bill at the Wynn would have been $234 a night?
I think that's full bore retail.
Not even gamblers rates.
Out of my price range, but I like downtown, anyway.

I wish that you could have posted pix,but I could see them on their site.
I think it is a retail price as I have received emails for 109.00 - 129.00 per night. It was fun staying there once but I wouldn't necessarily go back there again. My preference is Mirage, TI or Paris.
