trip to ely in may

we are thinking of taking a trip to ely in may when we come out to vegas. plan on staying over one night. looking at getting thoughts on best place to stay, eat and things to see. how is hotel Nevada? roads should be good in may?
thanks for your help.
I stayed at the Hotel Nevada maybe 10 years ago so things may be different now.The hotel was extremely old and the room was very small but clean and well kept.Didn't spend much time in Ely so can't comment on that.Neat little drive.Have a good time.
I knew a woman that worked at the Bunny Ranch up there in Ely.

And?

We've stayed at the Hotel Nevada and it was great. Small casino, small rooms but very quaint!! You'll enjoy the ride from Las Vegas to Ely too. We visited a national park but I can't think of the name right now which was very nice.

The Hotel Nevada has a nice 24 hour coffee shop which was also very good. Also free internet in the lobby.

If you like to ride in the car - this journey will be special! There are a few cute shope along the way and one where you can buy bulk nuts and candy...prices good too.
do the rooms come with a private bath or is it shared at the Hotel Nevada?
thanks for the info.
PRIVATE BATHROOMS IN EACH ROOM!!! DON'T HESITATE TO STAY HERE....YOU'LL REALLY LIKE IT!!
Why not check the website and see some pictures of the rooms. The rooms aren't numbered but are in famous cowboy and others names. Really cute.

The park was Great Basin NP, one of smallest, out of the way, lightly visited of our parks. Perhaps my favorite small park, enjoyed Lehman Caves, among other things. Highway 93, not Highway 50, gets my vote for "The Loneliest Road in America." Have driven it from Twin Falls to Las Vegas, 500 miles of remoteness, and would like to drive it in the other direction. Ely, at about 4000, is the largest settlement along the way. Some neat scenery, but not the drive for those that, unlike myself, do not enjoy remoteness and isolation and being far from the amenities of a large town.
