trip to ely, nv

We have been doing a little trip in the middle of our Vegas trip for the past few years. We made trips to Pahrump, Boulder City, Reno, Mesquite to name a few. I would like to hear what you think about Ely? Travel conditions in March? Hotels you recommend. Places to eat, etc.
Thanks for your help.
I wasted 3 days in Ely back in summer of 2006. I wish I could get them back. A complete dump. Avoid at all costs.

It is a long drive from LV. There is only one casino/hotel worth visiting or staying in, Red Lion, and even the Golden Gate in LV would put it to shame. Best place to eat: Burger King. They do have a couple of whorehouses, however, if that is in your agenda.

Well, cat my dog, you are right JM. It was Elko I went to, I know nothing about Ely, God bless them.

Whorehouses are never in my agenda, thank you very much.

Go to Wendover instead
We have a business intrest in Ely. That said I have only been there once, flew in and out in one day. It looks like a quaint little town with a fair amount of outside adventures to be had. Unfortunately I spent all of my time there at a dusty copper mine.
We enjoyed Ely!! Quaint little town and be sure to stay in the OLD Ely Hotel. Looks like something out of Gunsmoke. Adorable inside - rooms named for cowboys - nothing fancy, spotless and cute. Small casino with a little coffee shop but it is different.

We enjoyed seeing the Old West and how it used to be. Visited a park nearby and enjoyed our adventures there! Nice little town. Didn't expect too much and it turned out better than we expected!

Soooo nice to get away from the glitz and glamour of the strip and the usual casino places.

We love to take these little trips too - did you ever stop in Caliente? That's different too!!

On the way to Ely you'll come across a few stops where they have eating places and great places to pick up bagged candy and nuts. Delicious!!!

Have a wonderful time!!

Don't listen to the others!!!
Thanks for the info. Never been to Caliente. The more I read the more I want to go. Just would like to know what the weather is like in Late March?

go to Wendover if you've never been there before. First rate places and food compared to Ely.
