Tropicana $20 Tip Trick?

Iam going to be staying at the Tropicana in April. I wanted to know if anyone has tried the "$20 Tip Trick" here recently since the renovation. Iam booked for a deluxe room and want to see if I could get an upgrade with this. Any ideas? Thanks Renee

Used to be the $20 trick would get you a room with a mattress and running water.

That's living high! All it ever got me was 10 minutes in the parking lot around the corner....
