Trump cuts unemployment by 90 percent.

It might be interesting to view job growth through the prism of comparing February 2017 to February 2016 job and maybe going back to February 2015.

Does anyone know how that 235,000 compared to last year or previous couple of years?

Yes - but people on the board will tell you job creation prior to January 2017 is not noteworthy because.....Food Stamps.

I would like to see pj find an actual quote of that

What was repeatedly said by several people in the past was that many of the jobs that were created were part time, which was why the u6 rate remained high. The unemployment rate was dropping because people were leaving the work force.

This month over 200,000 jobs were created, the work force grew, the unemployment rate remained unchanged, the u6 rate went down & the participation rate went up. pj is welcome to find the last time those 5 job indicators were all positive in the same month

235k jobs added
unemployment down to 4.7%
u6 rate down
Adult employment rate up

Per my post later on this thread, apparently I'm the only one even a teensy little bit inquisitive about historical perspective of job growth for this season so I did some research.

Jobs added in February 2017: 235,000

Jobs added in February 2016: 242,000

242,000 jobs added in February 2016

Job increases in February 2015 also were higher than February 2017, but I think I'm wasting my time here.

There are 5 key stats tht indicate employment strength. They are listed below. Since you are doing research, rather than look at one stat, check when was the last month all 5 indicators were positive, I am sure the answer is years ago.

235k jobs added
Work force grew
unemployment down to 4.7%
u6 rate down
Adult employment rate up

No offense Papa Hoops, but this discussion is a waste of my time. I wasn't around last year, but from what I understand from other posters you discredited these stats previously.

I've only been around 3 or 4 months, but you, LVFritz and DrMilled (no offense to others I've missed) demonstrate no interest in having a conversation based on objectivity.

This is Hoops exact quote for 4.7% unemployment just a few weeks ago. He used all caps cause he was super serious about it.
"PRIMARILY DUE TO MILLIONS LEAVING THE WORK FORCE."

You're right, AMberly, you are wasting your time here.
Amberly, it's always nice to be mentioned in a post from someone who doesn't know their ass from second base. How's that for being objective?
On cue! I'm impressed! Now where is the doctor on this thread?

You guys go ahead and continue this enlightening conversation. I'm catching a plane to Nashville for a fun weekend.

This doesn't mean jack if people left the workforce.

For those in Loma Linda, 62% of those people who can work ARE working. Meaning 28% are either given up or are still searching for a job. In government terms after a certain period of time, I can write off any folks that are not actively looking for a job, lowering the unemployment rate. (artificially) Any folks that get a job, unless they come from the 28% are just extra, you're not actually lowering the unemployment rate, as there are folks that still haven't come back into the workforce.
